ovarian symptoms?

hello! I am new here, and I am really hoping to gain some answers about my symptoms, as doctors never seem to take me seriously. I don't know if I am crazy or what, but I have had weird symptoms that have gotten progressively worse for about 6 months. t started with pain during and severe cramping after sex. Then I started getting a lot of discharge that didnt seem normal. Now it has gotten to the point that I look about 5 months pregnant at times- very uncomfortable. I took a test and i am not preg. My lower belly hurts on both sides and i cannot breath if i lay on my stomach or if my two year old lays on me. I also had a TON of blood with my stools- enough to turn water bright red and soak toilet paper. I went to a colon specialist, but nothing really has been done. he didnt really take me seriously because i am only 24- said that it was probably more gyno related. I had an ultrasound, but dont really know what it meansmy right ovary size is 44x35x26 mm, left is 28x28x18 mm. they both are polycystic ans i have a little fluid in the cul de sac. i have also had diarrhea and constipation, headaches every day, EXTREME fatigue, brown and green discharge, etc. Am i nuts or is this all something to worry about? Please help me understand what is going on with my body.

I too agree with the other ladies...take charge and get second or even third opinions if you do not feel the drs are taking you seriusly because you are young. I am having issues with cysts and went to my OBGYN and they saw them but did not seem concerned but my initial reports said complex, hemorraghic, growing cysts so I am seeing a new OBGGYN next month. Also, my regular dr kept blaming pain in my upper abdomen on my body getting back to normal after pg (had a baby 6 months ago) so I had to push and push him to send me for tests, and I am having surgery to get my gallbladder out next week. He too thought I was too young to have these problems (I am 34). Noone knows our bodies like we do, trust your gut. Let us know, take care.

Becca-

Here are some of our simaraties.  I have the bloating, gas, and nausea problems.  I had a colonoscopy and it looks okay, but I still don't know what's wrong.  I'm pushing for more tests.  It's hard to admit or even think aobut the possibility of having cancer at such a young age, but it's worse to ignore the facts.  A lot of your conditions are symptoms of various forms of "female" cancer.  Uterine, Ovarian or even into bowl or colon.  You need to take as many tests as possible especially the one luvthybeagle suggests.  Just keep pushing!  I agree that you have to stay calm.  Keep us posted!

Thanks PennyP! I needed some validation, and dont be afraid to worry me, because i am already worried. i really have just wanted someone to give it to me straight and say hey this is something to worry about. i agree that male doctors always think that women are too sensitive about pain. the colon specialist had the nerve to ask me if i was sure that the blood was from the rectum and not my period, like i wouldnt know the differnce or didnt double check to be sure. i wanted to yell at him when he asked me that, but i figured that wouldnt do me any good. thanks again, and if you have any knowledge that you may want to share, please do, because the info about symptoms that i have gotten seem very vague and unhelpful. Although i have every one of them listed, they seem like anyone would have them- becca

Insist the doc on doing a blood test incl CA125 and see if there are any readings that are beyond average/normal. I would encourage you to consult as many doctors as possible until you are comfortable with one who would take you seriously. I'm sure one of them will be able to help. You have to be aggresive but try to stay calm. Take care.

ps...I'm only 26 and started having problems at 19.  Make them understand how worried you are.  I have been doctoring for 7 years and I still have to push for them to test.  Most doctors (Male) think that it's just women being too sensative about their cycle.  If you have to bring samples to get their attention...I would and have done it!  Good Luck

Yes, you do need  another doctor and a proper diagnosis.

It appears from your post that your right ovary might be ever so slightly enlarged, or it might just be that the right ovary is noticeably larger than your left.  However, you have polycystic ovaries which could account for that slight increase.   You should speak with a gynocologist about testing for PCOS, (polycystic ovarian syndrome), and inquire about any treatments to help with the condition.  PCOS, by the way, actually reduces  your chances of having OVCA.   There is a website for women with PCOS, and I think it is called SoulCysters, possibly at  www.soul-cysters.com, or maybe '.net.'  I am sure that you can find it if you found this website!

Your intestinal symptoms also read like the symptoms of severe Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or like Crohn's disease.  What tests did the bowel specialist order and what were the results?  PCOS can affect the entire body, so the appointment with the gyn might be the best place to start.

Thank you all so much for responding. I picked this forum because, of the ones that i looked at, it seems that you all are very dedicated to eachother and keeping eachother informed and supported, so thanks for your answers! i have an appt. with the gyn. to figure out what could be going on, but i wanted to be pretty well informed when i went. As far as the bowel specialist goes, he just got me to send stool samples to check for blood. that was neg. so i was told that unless it happened again, nothing would be done. i need to find another doc. cause he was sort of a jerk, said i was too young to be there and that i didnt look sick enough for him to worry. so it seems that i have to have a full blown devastating illness to get any help from him. he was very sarcastic as well, which i appreciate in everyday life, but not really from my doc. so thanks again for your help, and i will keep you all posted. hope all is well with you all. take care- becca

You need to get a second opinion!  If you are in that much pain and have any kind of discharge...you need to push for testing.  I do not want to worry you, but these symptoms are something to take very seriously.  Push for them to understand and if they don't, find someone who will.
