pain back or is this normal after laparotomy?

sorry to be a pain and keep asking questions but need to know if this is normal healing or what.Had ovaries removed 10 wks ago. Returned to work last wk. This is my second wk back, my job involves being on my feet for about 9hrs straight off.I am careful not to lift anything more than 5lb(2.265 kilos)but my job is manual.I have been fine until sat when i started to get a little throbbing on my left side. Throbbing continued sun. Mon turned into pain. The pain is on the end of the scar line on the left side and above(pain before was slightly lower)also very tender to touch. I am petrified it's comming back!!Having trouble with bloating as well especially when i eat. Any ideas any body, have i done too much?.Dawn

Perfectly normal Dawn. We all freak out when we get a twinge after the trama we have been through but I promise you you will have all sorts of weird aches and pains. I had exactly the same thing by the scarline and rushed to the doctor in a panic. He said it was all a normal part of healing and to relax and stop worrying. Its only been 10 weeks remember. You were saying before you had another follow up. I dont understand this I really dont. Apart from the follow up 8 weeks after surgery I was told I had no more chance of getting another cyst than someone who has never had one, therefore follow up was pointless?

Thanks for that. I miss read that ?. This will be my first follow up.The only thing that makes me worry is that until now i have had the odd twinge but now im back to holding my side. I think part of my problem is my gyno surgeon said at first i would still have the pain as he felt it was not all from the ovary. So as far as thats concerned im paranoid he was right when i was sure it was my ovary,i wanted to be right. This is not a niggle, i even started taking painkillers again,GOD I HATE TAKING THEM.perhaps im turning into a whimp in my old age!.Thanks for the reply input. Still working on dh.dawn

I've had several minor surgeries & major operations...now that you've been back at work for the past 2 wks., your activity level has increased.  Even the slightest amount of consistent increase could be causing pain.  Make sure you're allowing yourself extra time to complete tasks, especially at work.  Ease back in slowly & listen to your body.  2-3 months after my last laparotomy, I began feeling significant pain & discomfort.  I went in for a transvaginal ultrasound.  They found tumor regrowth, w/ a complex cyst already attached.  If the symptoms don't go away, make an appt. for an ultrasound.  I have an understanding w/ my dr. about check ups...every 6 months (when I'm not preparing for an operation) I go in for an ultrasound, as a preventitive measure.  It's always better to be safe, just in case.  Best of luck to you, peace.

When I went back to work after my first surgeries 16 years ago, I suffered terribly and I was only 30 (just).  I too had to go back on the painkillers and when I spoke to the doc about it,  he said it was only natural and that I would be using muscles that I wouldn't have used when recuperating.  The pain went away after about two weeks.

If he doesn't think it was from the ovary what does he think the source is? I mean 10 weeks is still early days hon it really is. I still have all sorts of pullings and stretchings and niggles. I was only thinking the other day when I realised I still found it strange to arch my back, will I ever be as I was - I think probably not. My surgery was 6 months ago.

went for follow up but unfortunately did not get my consultant or surgeon only some weird doctor(will explain later)who poked me hard in the belly,he was sitting at his desk and i was across from him,so he kind of just reached across and poked. I said it was very tender in one particular spot but he was not bothered!
I then mentioned that the consultant had
said i needed to have yearly mamogramms(family history)but that my gp could not authorise it. He did breast exam(weird)and has sent me for mammogram as there appears to be a small lump! What next i ask myself. Even the nurse(who i know) said you come in for one thing and leave with another!Anyway i will see how the belly goes and thank you all for you tales and experiances i really do appricate it.Dawn
