positive CA 125 60

I am a 49 yr old perimenapausal women. I had my first ob appt in 3 years. Requested a ca 125. No family history of breast/ovarian cancer. mom lung cancer and daugther had thyroid cancer. internal exam revealed some nodules in uterus apparently (doc suggested) fibroids. FSH is 40 but two periods in past two months after haveing only a period every couple or few months. Gone about 4 months or 6 over a past two years with no period.
I have no symptoms of stomach GI issues other then pain/discomfort about a week before mensturation. This has been going on for years. Always had GI discomfort in life before two years ago going on probiotics. Since then no stomach pain/bloatedness or other stomach issues. Much of my life post children was GI issues/gastritus etc.
Doc said many false positives with ca 125, so don't panic because he needs to do ultrasound in two days. Does the 60 have any signficiance at this point? does it point to being malignant at some point? Some markers just go with trends when rechecked but does ca 125 of 60 indicate anything? I have a history of endometrioiss and had a balloon ablasy about 5 yeares ago to reduce bleeding which it did lighten periods and anemia . I used to be severly anemic, heavy periods, endometriosis etc. Never had fibroids until this appt last week. he felt them.
if there is any nodules or growths (benign or malignant) in uterous/ovaries etc, shouldnt I just go ahead and get hysterecomy?
I have no symptoms other then normal off and on constipation, (not regularly), off and on hot flashes, mostly at night, about a week after period this month had some spotting but mostely brown so not sure if leftr over from last period as opposed to mid cycle bleeding?
Thanks for any information you can give me. DP

Hi there,
thank you for your complete information.
The most common reason for an elevated CA 125 is a fibroid uterus.  Doing an ultrasound is the best next test.
best wishes
