possible ovarian issues

I had a cervical cancer scare a few weeks back but the biopsy from my LEEP procedure showed mild dysplasia with clear margins. My doctor will do another Pap smear in six months. This was my second LEEP procedure in the past five years. I was pretty scared because I had a lot of cervical cancer symptoms so of course I'm very relieved. However I continue to have physical symptoms such as groin pain, pelvic cramping, Low back pain, mild Fatigue, pain in my legs especially left leg and behind my knee. A few months ago I had four periods Within five weeks but since then my periods have returned to every 3 to 4 weeks. My doctor wants me to have a pelvic ultrasound to check on my ovaries but I can't have it until I'm fully recovered from the LEEP. I'm 48 years old and I realize aches and pains are part of getting older but I feel like this discomfort I have is not from that. Like I told my doctor I can honestly just say I just never feel good. I just feel like my body is so achey and has all these twinges of pain shooting through it. I just wondered if anyone on here had feelings like this that was related to their ovaries.

The ultrasound is a good move. You have a good doctor. Benign ovarian cysts can cause many symptoms. I know you are scared. I recently had a CT scan that showed what they thought was breast cancer. I had a mammogram. On the mammogram they saw something on the other breast. They did tens shots and then and ultrasound. They were shadows. I also had a shadow on a mouth xray. They thought that was cancer and it was a broken jaw which I tried to tell them. Then they thought I had cancer in the gallbladder it turned out to be a large stone. Then there was the anerysm which turned out to be something else non fatal. The new imaging has a lot of false negatives. We think because of TV they are getting clear pictures. It is still guess work. The good news is they do less exploratory surgery the bad news is it is not easy to diagnose things. My new way of dealing is I do not worry until the doctor tells me to worry.

Some of your symptoms could be caused by ovarian cysts. Thankfully though MOST ovarian cysts are benign. If you do not have a family history or predisposition for ovarian cancer then your risk is LESS THAN 2%.

I developed an ovarian cyst at age 49. My gynecologist rushed me into surgery and should have removed just the cyst (cystectomy) since my frozen section came back benign. Instead, he removed all of my sex organs. Since the uterus, ovaries, and tubes have LIFELONG functions, I am suffering the many health and quality of life effects.

Let us know what you find out and I hope you start feeling better.
