I'm new here stumbled upon the group by chance after turning to the Internet for extra info.
I'm a 25 y/o female normally well, I had surgery in late June to correct a deviated septum and ended up with post op Infection. I was put on co amoxiclav antibiotics for 5 weeks. Since stopping the tablets I've been getting awful pains in my Lower right abdo, cramping, spasming, burning, gurgling. I've been back and forth to my docs since august & one doc suggested ovarian cysts butto keep an eye on it. I have even been admitted to hospital for possible appendicitis. I've had an ultra sound & X-ray but on the ultra sound nothing could be seen as there was alot of gas across the lower abdo. My doc said the X-rays didn't show my ovaries either which she says is good as if there was ovarian cysts thry would be pushed forward?! I'm worried as I've been told to play the waiting game. But I feel vie been waitin a long time now and my pains getting worse. I've kept a diary the last few months of the pain, it starts when I ovulate (always the right side) it will spread up as far as my belly button and across into my hip and back. I've also got pain in my right thigh, down to my knee. The docs have also said that my vein on y inner thigh is inflamed (I cant remember what this is called something strange!) which is painful and I get shooting pains through it and it feels quite stiff.  I've also noticed a vein in my wrist becoming inflamed.  The past 5 weeks I have also been suffering really badly with dizziness to the point where I feel I'm going to pass out. I saw my doc about this he took some blood & I found my White blood cells were up & he suggested I was fighting an infection. I had repeat tests last week all normal though I'm still fighting this dizziness. Does anyone else experience this, could it be cyst related?!
My periods although generally on time I have noticed spotting the first fee days and their not as heavy as normal. I have this pain from ovulation up I till I come on and it goes, but then it comes back when I'm finishing my period and is very painful, hurts to walk, to sit up from lying down, to bend etc. I'm worried that something mores going on and that my docs just want to sit & wait. I've had an awful stressful summer with my work being very unsupportive over my operation and illness and now this added worry I'm at a loss as what to do. Any advice, support a d similar experiences you could share I'd be very grateful for.
Many thanks and best of well wishes to you all.
Katie. X

Thank you all for your comments on hip pain and periods.  I have been experiencing hip point the week prior to my period for several months.  I also suffer from arthritis in my hips (I had a hip replacement on the right side 3 years ago).  Now I have severe pain in my left hip.  I assumed that my hip must be in need of another hip replacement on the left side.   Although, most of the month the pain is tolerable except for one week when I can't even walk straight.  I will pursue an appointment to check for cysts.  If there is anything else that should be done, please let me know. Good luck Mary. Kathy

Yep i have hip pain in fact that was the first thing to hurt and at first i thought it was my age. Then noticed intermitent left sided pain. That increased in regularity until i noticed it was worse after bm. The more times i had bm the worse the pain got. It sort of realy ached and throbbed, almost like a sore spot being rubbed. Also go a lot of groin ache and pain when peeing. I am having ovaries removed this thursday due to cysts and constant pain. Hope all goes well for you too in dec. Dawn

I know my family doc didn't associate it right away but funnily enough the dr in the er(i went because of rectal pressure) said it could be a gyno problem.THat's what started me thinking. The reason we get pain elsewhere is called 'reffered pain'.I think it means that it is pushing against other organs or maybe nerves that signal to the brain that the pain is coming from that area when actually it's the other side or whatever. Maybe someone else has a better explanation but it's something along those lines. Anyway when I finally got to see my Gyno surgeon she wasn't surprised about the strange symptoms. I would like to know how your operation was as I am getting ready(and nervous)for mine(laproscopy for cyst and ovary)next week.

Just wanted to also share that  I have had horrible hip pan with my cysts.  It seems that is where most of my pain centered.  Once I had my right oophorectormy the hip pain left.  I knew I had more cysts on my left ovary when the hip pain started up again but this time on my left side.  (3 cysts on that ovary right now) Does anyone know why this is?  Is the cyst on some nerve that is connected to the hip?  I don't think doctors ever associate hip pain with ovarian cysts.  Not sure why that is, seems to be a complaint of my women with the cysts.

I didn't really have the menstrual type pain you have.It is more in my lower back and hip area. And the rectal pressure(feels like i always have to have a b.m). However, everyone is different and it depends on where the cyst or mass is and of course how large it is.I have had some pain under rib cage and bloating etc but I would suggest if you can to get it checked out before January.Good Luck

Check out my post to Angel22 regarding "Chronic Pain." I am learning much about vericose veins in the pelvic region. They can cause chronic pelvic pain. Often the problem is not caught because these wayward veins cannot be seen when a woman is lying down (during an MRI)...take a look at the info I found, though...something to think about.

Best to all, Mary

Hi, I am having the same type of pains that you are.  My back hurts, crampy abdomen, and hip pain (my pain starts in my back and travels around my hip to my abdomen.  I always tell my doctor it is like labor pain or major menstral cramps that do not go away).  Does this sound like your pain?  I have not had a tvus done yet, as my supplemental insurance does not kick in untill January.  I may not be able to hold off that long as the pain is getting really bad.  PLease let us know what you find out.  Kasie

I had major hip pain with my dermoid (2 softball sized ones!!) Sometimes it was so bad I could not get up from my desk!  Fortunately that all went away once the dermoids were removed.

I had hip pain.  In fact, the reason the cyst was found in the first place was that I had a MRI for back pain.  They saw a "mass" to the right of my uterus.

If the pain is worse you should see the doctor.I have some of your symptoms with a 6cm cyst.I have intermittent pain under the rib cage and tenderness in the area near the cyst, bloating and strange bowel movements.I don't have pain after the b.m
just that i get easily constipated and then it hurts.I have been uncomfortable almost all the time but never in serious pain.Talk to the Doctor and tell them your pain level has increased..good luck

If you are suffering with severe pain, I would suggest going to the ER.  Pain is never an option.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Godspeed
