That is why some opt to be tested for the BRCA I-II gene to see if they are carriers. It usually starts by someone with cancer getting tested first then trickling to those without cancer. I do know a lady that had her's tested because of such a high instance of those cancers in her family. Breast is also included in that mix.
I'm having a colonoscopy on Thursday, because my Dad had polyps and I'm considered "at risk". I guess they start colonoscopies at age 50, and I'm only 44 but this is just to get a baseline.
Then I have this ovarian issue lately and I'm thinking the colonoscopy might be a good idea.
And with Dad's prostate cancer, and the polyps, wellll....
He's been through a lot, I just wonder how the genetics plays into it all.
