stage 4 - 3 treatment regimes now going for taxol

Has anyone else been on single therapy taxol as a 4th line treatment

I have had carboplatin and taxol as 1st line and this worked well but immediate recurrance
then I had gemcitabine and parp inhibitor for 8 rounds but there was progression which was not seen on scans and spots on the liver.
Liver operation could not be completed due to peritoneal spread when they went in.
There was also spread to the brain and I had whole brain radiotherapy which worked well and then they started me on Caelyx (doxil) but this has now been stopped after 2 treatments as there has been some progression in the liver.
I have dexamethazone for the water accumulated around the brain mets (which are now reduced).
I am now due to start Taxol as a single therapy in 2 weeks - does anyone have any experience of this as an option or any other ideas?

Thank you for your help.

I met a lady today, stage 3 c and has never had remission. SHe had carbo/taxol then gemzar/doxil and is now on single taxol iv weekly.

I don't know how she is doing but she looked great, is working. THis is going on two years for her and she has few complaints.

Keep us posted and good good luck to you!

My Mom just started weekly taxol and completed only 2 weeks.  Studies show that it works so we are trying it as we've exhausted all other chemos out there.  Avastin, gemzar, doxil, topotecan.  Had a consultation at Memorial Sloan Kettering and they've confirmed that its the best option in this type of situation, to restart taxol on weekly basis.  Sometimes the body overcomes the resistance and starts to respond again.  The dose is so light and so manageable with barely any side affects.  If this works and keeps cancer at bay, women can stay on this regimen for as long as needed.
Hope if works out for you
