surgery

On monday I have my pre-op appt. On tuesday I have surgery (laproscopic) scheduled. I'm wondering if a blood transfusion will be needed at all. Has anybody ever had a blood transfusion? I read it's only rare to have a blood transfusion.
Should I be worried at all about a blood transfusion? Or is this something not to be worried about?
Any information would be great.
Thanks,
Bonnie

Are you anemic now?  A laparoscopic procedure requires only a couple of "bandaid incisions"  There should not be much blood loss.  Good luck!

When I was in the pre-OR, they took blood to test just in case a transfusion was necessary so they would know what to give me. I didn't need it, and the incisions are pretty small. Honestly, the worst is the belly button incision. I actually think that's the biggest. The other three are probably less than 1/2 an inch long. My doc said that it's very rare that a transfusion is necessary since they don't really need it unless a blood vessel is ruptured (like in a hemmhoragic cyst), and then they usually just cauterize it.
