swollen lymph node

by c&h, Sep 23, 2007 01:27PM
Hi. First of all, I'd like to say thank you for taking the time to answer questions on this forum. I'm a 28 year old and I just had a borderline mucinous ovarian cyst removed (6 weeks ago). I also had a salpingo-oophorectomy. I recently noticed what I believe is a swollen lymph node in my pelvic region on the same side as the cyst was. I have an appointment with my gyn/onc in 3 months. I'm not sure if I should wait to see if it goes down or if I should call my doctor. If I should wait, how long is a reasonable wait? If I should go to my doctor right away, should I expect her to biopsy the lymph node?
Thank you for the help!

Hi There,

The most likely reason for the swollen node in your groin is inflammation from the surgery. however, I would suggest that you go in sooner to have it looked at. You might have an infection and need antibiotics. Most likely, all is well but why wait and worry for three months?
best wishes
