There actually are two different ca 125 test... the older version and the newer both are good but have different parameters for results... usually here in Central America and Europe it is under 30.. the newer test is under 20... now thats here..

With that said... your 51 could b a million different reasons and none mean cancer.,Again it is not reliable for pre menopausal women or women with endometriosis.  Until you have further testing its not a reason to worry...

Good Luck

Yes I think i,ve seen 26 as an upper limit on another post , I think it varies from place to place and some labs have variations also . I know that 35 is the cut off point all over England.

My doctor uses 19 and under as normal. That is what my sister's doctor in another state told her too. I guess some doctors vary in their opinion.

Hi ,
complex cysts, fibroids , endometriosis and many other things can elevate a ca125  result. It is not a reliable test on its own and is best used in conjuction with tvus and ct scans . It is useful for some women who have ovarian cancer to detect a reccurance . The upper limit in a premenopausal woman is 35 , but as I said many other benign conditions can raise it. Just to reassure you , 95% of cysts are completely benign so the odds are in your favour .

Good luck at the doctors tomorrow and let us know how you get on .

Best wishes Angie
