I just got a copy of my us and it says i have a cyst in my left ovary that measures about 1.2x0.8x0.75 and multiple follicles in my right ovary and free fluid in the cul-de-sac.
does anyone know what the follicles are?
Follicular cyst of the ovary: A fluid-filled sac in the ovary, the most common type of ovarian cyst. It results from the growth of a follicle. A follicle is the fluid-filled cyst that contains an egg. In some cycles, this follicle grows larger that normal and does not rupture to release the egg. Normally it resolves with simple observation over the course of days to months.
Most ovarian cysts are never noticed by the woman and resolve without her ever knowing that it was there. When a cyst causes symptoms, pain is by far the most common presentation.
Cancer is a possibility, but probably the least likely one. Cancer is more probable in complex cysts (with multiple septations, solid bits, thick walls, ect) than in simple cysts. Most cysts are NOT cancerous, and even if you have a complex cyst it doesn't mean you are likely to have cancer.
Follicles are normal and the fluid seen in the cul de sac most likely represents the products of a ruptured cyst. That too is normal, the u/s was probably done at the time of your cycle where all of that takes place. What symptoms sent you for an u/s?

I was told in september that I had a ruptured cyst in my left ovary. They said I should be fine after that but I had gotten the same pain about two months later. They told me that I was fine. I don't know what to do. I also just came back again from the doctors and they showed me about five follicles that were big enough to almost cover my whole left ovary. The doctor said I had nothing to worry about. How can I not worr if I have spherocytosis and had a spleenectomy. What do I di? I still get the pain.
I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me.. All my dr said was that they saw were multiple follicles on my ovaries. I'm haveing a lot of pain lately and I also can feel a lump around where my left ovary is... Can you tell me what kinds of pains you're having I'm curious if this is the problem I'm having.
