My gyn led me to believe that surgical intervention would have to take place if there was any twisting of the ovary. Also, if the cyst was very large, there may be some type of bleeding from the ovary. Mine leaked out and there was no intense pain only pressure. If it does not get better, I would contact my gyn.
I had my first ruptured cyst in '92, didn't know what the pain was on my right side. The dr. thought I had appenditis. It wasn't until they went in and discovered it was a ruptured cyst, but they removed my appendix anyway for future so as not to think that it was the problem again. I have since had 6-8 more ruptures, and the only thing the dr could do is pain meds. It lasts about 24-48 hrs from onset of intense pain for me. It is the whole side of whichever side it was on. Abdomen, back, arm, leg etc. Almost felt better to lay curled up and take meds. Had it happen while on vacation in Disney, hurt even to walk. I was taking tons of Aleve etc. until it passed, at least that has been my experience. Hang in there and know you are in thoughts and prayers.
