Hi, I just got my results from a pelvic cast-scan and, i would like to know what does (several follicles are seen in the ovaries bilaterally means?) and there is a trace amount of free fluid seen in the pelvis. Can you please help me figure this out? Thank you...

Who ordered the CAT scan?  A gyn or other doctor?  Is a doctor planning to give you a medical explanation?

Follicles are normal (they occur with ovulation) but they can also be called cysts when they are large and do not go away immediately.  Bilaterally might mean on both ovaries, but I cannot say for sure.  Most go away on their own, but the ones that don't are the ones that lead to problems.  Not sure about the free fluid (could be from a ruptured simple cyst?)  Pelvic ultrasound is the usual diagnosic tool for these things.

You need a gyn to explain things to you and most likely an ultrasound.  I don't think gyn's normally order CAT scans, so I'm thinking someone other than a gyn is treating you at present.

I'm going to echo Marie here..It's really best to have your Gyn. explain these things to you. We'd be guessing and that's not good.. I'd also ask the Dr. if he is planning a TVUS , which is a Transvaginal Ultrasound..and , from what I've learned here, the best dx. tool for circumstances such as yours.

When will you be seeing your Dr. again?

Hi and thank you so much for your answers, yes your right its actually a general surgeon whos seen me a the moment, when i when for a yearly gyn visit she thought i had a hernia so she send me to see a general surgeon so he send me to get a cat-scan, so you guys don't think is nothing to worry about?

I have another question, i been having pain on my left breast for cuite a long now and my gyn didn't feel anything but when she send me to get an ultrasound it came up with..4x2x5mm solid lession in the 12A axis, ax3x6mm lymph node in the 2C axis, 7x4x6mm lymph node in the 3C axis, and a 6x1x4mm cyst containing echoes in the 6A axis.. they told me its nothing to worry about but i still have the pain and sometimes i feel a burning sensation and like stabing feeling i dont know what to do i my supose to live the rest of my life with this pain? I am really scared i don't think this is normal..

Are they going to do a repeat mammo or a needle biopsy on any of those lesions? They say breast cancer doesn't hurt but that's not 100% true. Please make sure they follow up on those. Most likely they're just cysts (yes, we can get them in the breast tissue too) but it's better to know for sure than just guessing.

That's the problem that im having that's why im scared because my "General Surgeon" said to wait 6 months to get another sonogram, but what if im just given it time to get worst whatrever it is you know..He just told me that they don't no how to treat breast pain how about that ha.. I read an article about this lady that had something similar to me and she waited the 6 months to find out that she had a very advance cancer that's why im freeking out..

How about another opinion? That's hard to do but if you're being brushed off or not getting clear answers, then it's best to ask someone else. You mentioned several spots of interest in your test results. True - the one may be a simple fluid filled cyst, the solid lesion may be a calcification and I'm not sure why they mentioned the lymph nodes since we have tons of them in our body. It's not unreasonable to ask why those spots were noted and what are they.
