*¤* Welcome to the Ovarian Cysts Community *¤*

Mid

We are so glad you joined our community!

We know you must be worried at the thought of having an Ovarian Cyst.

Ovarian cysts can be pretty scary just thinking about them, along with the pain that can often at times accompany them.

Having so many things going through your mind, and all the questions you still need answered, having to find out more about what is going on with you, can be overwhelming.

This forum is answered by women who also have had cysts.  We are not Doctors, so the advice given is only what we have experienced.

Now that you have been welcomed, and if you're ready to post your question, please start it a new thread to ensure your question won't be missed!

Be sure to stop by our Health Pages which you might find helpful.  They're over in top right corner.

Please go to "My MedHelp" if you have created a profile.  This is on the top line of all the pages and is indicated by a red heart.  You'll see different things available such as photo albums, journals, notes, private messages, and themes (such our recent Ovarian Cancer Awareness month theme which is teal coloured.  These are all available to you, and it helps us know a little more about you.

If you have any problems navigating around the site, or with making your profile, please

feel free to send either TrudieC or myself a private message, and we'll do our best to help you!

Your Community Leaders,

Mid & TrudieC

I was introduced to this website this morning by a friend who thought it might help me deal with what I've gone through. And by god they are right. This website is incredible and the people on here are a real inspiration. I hope that once I have dealt with my own issues surrounding my condition I can help others do the same.

Stay strong ladies. Never be afraid to ask your doctor anything and do not be afraid to ask for a second opinion. Keep positive (check me...if only I could take my own advice) and you'll get through it :)

Thank you for such a warm welcome and thank you for giving me a place I feel comfortable to talk about my condition

I'm so glad all is benign.  In the future do create your own posting so that your questions get addressed instead of adding to the welcome message.

Thank you so much for your story...and for your information plus words of advice....as of this date, I have had the operation...April 6 to be exact...turns out a tumor between the size of a grapefruit/tennis ball was removed along with right ovary and tube...I believe that's what the doctor said...the last part was told to me in a fog!  Anyway, the good news is,  it's BENIGN...my followup appt w/the MD is April 23...I hope this is the end of it...if not, I know where to come back for comfort.
I feel GREAT...I'm supposed to go back to work NEXT Monday, but have opted to go back this Friday instead...I feel FINE...I'm bored...I have no physical pain...just have to watch where the pants/underwear/pantyhose hit!!!...the navel is still a bit sensitive...the two other small incisions don't bother me at all...I am VERY lucky...

Good wishes to all, RV

ps...what's the difference between a tumor and a cyst...should I be concerned...anybody have any experience with this?

I am 51 and just had both ovaries and uterus removed.  Just hang in there, it is better to get it removed.  I am currently having my staples removed, and just started going through a little depression.  You are fortunate to be where they have advanced technology.  Imagine, I live on an island next to Guam.  To have surgery, I had to fly to another island.  Our island has two doctors- which neither one I truly trust.  However, my surgeon on Saipan was excellent.  I hope that you have a doctor that is honest.  I believe honesty is always the best- both the best scenario and the worst.
Once it is over with, it will be better.  I have struggled with this since I was about 17 years old, and yet didn't fully understand all of it.  I wanted a child badly, my ex husband and I tried for 9 years.  However, I have a beautiful teenage adopted daughter. I believe that everything works out for the good and the best if we allow it to.  Take care. Wishing you the best.  I will tell you like everyone is telling me------just make sure you take it easy for quite a while after surgery---don't overdo it.

I apologize that I don't look at this posting very often.  Could I ask those who have posted questions in this thread to create a new thread if your issues are still ongoing?

i had a 15 pound cyst that was filled with fluid and was hard and it mad me look like i was 5 months pregnat and i wasen't. the cyst had formed ito a tumor that was non cancerouse. they had to remove my left overy half of my right one my appendics and it made my right small. I had this for six years with out ever nowing about the cyst. i went to the hospital for something else and had a ultrasound and was told that i had a cyst on my ovary. i had surgery january 24 of 2007 and had 50 staples put in me. so its inportant that you talk to your doctors about what treatment is best for you. because i was told if i didnt have the cyst tumor removed when i did i would have died awile later. the tumor was killing me and i had no idea about it. so ask questions to your doctors.

Thanks for welcoming me. And Thanks to Trudie for replying to a comment I made. I see on here that you can ask a doctor, but have been unable to. How do I ask the doctor?
