I was introduced to this website this morning by a friend who thought it might help me deal with what I've gone through. And by god they are right. This website is incredible and the people on here are a real inspiration. I hope that once I have dealt with my own issues surrounding my condition I can help others do the same.
Stay strong ladies. Never be afraid to ask your doctor anything and do not be afraid to ask for a second opinion. Keep positive (check me...if only I could take my own advice) and you'll get through it :)
Thank you for such a warm welcome and thank you for giving me a place I feel comfortable to talk about my condition
What a wonderful warm welcome.. thank you both. Being alone with something scary is terrible; thank you for making me less scared.
Hi all, am so glad to be able to read and talk to other women going through the same.....i have a 5cm cysts on the right ovary and a 3cm on the left....am in constant discomfort and often have very sharp pains that goes into my hips!! I am having the cysts removed on the 27th and am very nervous as have never had anything done before!! I am 34 and due to get married on the 3rd july!! Any advise ladies?? Thanks, Claire.
I'm so glad all is benign. In the future do create your own posting so that your questions get addressed instead of adding to the welcome message.
Thank you so much for your story...and for your information plus words of advice....as of this date, I have had the operation...April 6 to be exact...turns out a tumor between the size of a grapefruit/tennis ball was removed along with right ovary and tube...I believe that's what the doctor said...the last part was told to me in a fog! Anyway, the good news is, it's BENIGN...my followup appt w/the MD is April 23...I hope this is the end of it...if not, I know where to come back for comfort.
I feel GREAT...I'm supposed to go back to work NEXT Monday, but have opted to go back this Friday instead...I feel FINE...I'm bored...I have no physical pain...just have to watch where the pants/underwear/pantyhose hit!!!...the navel is still a bit sensitive...the two other small incisions don't bother me at all...I am VERY lucky...
Good wishes to all, RV
ps...what's the difference between a tumor and a cyst...should I be concerned...anybody have any experience with this?
Thank you for your welcome. This has already helped. Nice to have other people who have had all this themselves. swithy xx
I am 51 and just had both ovaries and uterus removed. Just hang in there, it is better to get it removed. I am currently having my staples removed, and just started going through a little depression. You are fortunate to be where they have advanced technology. Imagine, I live on an island next to Guam. To have surgery, I had to fly to another island. Our island has two doctors- which neither one I truly trust. However, my surgeon on Saipan was excellent. I hope that you have a doctor that is honest. I believe honesty is always the best- both the best scenario and the worst.
Once it is over with, it will be better. I have struggled with this since I was about 17 years old, and yet didn't fully understand all of it. I wanted a child badly, my ex husband and I tried for 9 years. However, I have a beautiful teenage adopted daughter. I believe that everything works out for the good and the best if we allow it to. Take care. Wishing you the best. I will tell you like everyone is telling me------just make sure you take it easy for quite a while after surgery---don't overdo it.

Hi all...so glad i found this Board...I am 57 and will be going in for removal of a CYST on my right ovary which is the size of a grapefruit! Going in Monday 4/6/09 at 6:00 AM...i will admit i am nervous...i have NO pain but i know it's there b/c my skirts don't fit anymore and i'm just a bit uncomfortable and bloated...just thought i was FAT!
anyway, i'm going into Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch NJ which is one of the few hospitals that uses robotic surgery!
so, i just wanted to join, say hello and reads the posts of other CystaSisses!!!
im 15 years old, about three months ago i was in the hospital because they thought i had appendicitis but they said it was a hemorrhagic cyst on my ovaries. and about a month later i felt the pain again, and right now another month later its back and hurts so badly.
can anyone give me an idea of what theyre going to do because i have an appointment next week and cant wait that long.
thank you

I apologize that I don't look at this posting very often. Could I ask those who have posted questions in this thread to create a new thread if your issues are still ongoing?
i had a 15 pound cyst that was filled with fluid and was hard and it mad me look like i was 5 months pregnat and i wasen't. the cyst had formed ito a tumor that was non cancerouse. they had to remove my left overy half of my right one my appendics and it made my right small. I had this for six years with out ever nowing about the cyst. i went to the hospital for something else and had a ultrasound and was told that i had a cyst on my ovary. i had surgery january 24 of 2007 and had 50 staples put in me. so its inportant that you talk to your doctors about what treatment is best for you. because i was told if i didnt have the cyst tumor removed when i did i would have died awile later. the tumor was killing me and i had no idea about it. so ask questions to your doctors.

Nevermind I figured it out. Bummer that you have to pay. I am a single mom and cant afford the $22.
Thanks for welcoming me. And Thanks to Trudie for replying to a comment I made. I see on here that you can ask a doctor, but have been unable to. How do I ask the doctor?
I am blessed to have found this site while doing some research into my situation. I was so relieved to know that I am not the only one going through this. The advice and support from all of you have been wonderful. Thanks so much for making this support group available to all of us who feel so lost and alone. God bless....Lynn
