12 week post op laparotomy pain

hi....i had a laparotomy 12 weeks ago for complex borderline ovarian cysts. had tah removal of ovaries, uterus, cervix, lymph node and omentum...1 week post op i had pain under my right rib near sternum. this pain has never gone away and at times is worse than it was originally. its like a stitch pain and very tender to touch. i had an abdominal xray couple of weeks ago because a blockage of bowel was suspected but it was ok...has anybody had this or give advice please..

thankyou so much for that advice...after originally putting this pain down to my bowel been a bit sluggish that problem has now been sorted after starting myself on natural acidophilus and evening primrose oil. the pain remains so a trip to my doctors i think is needed. i will keep you posted. thankyou :)

You have had a lot of internal cutting / tissue removed but the "tender to touch" is particularly concerning in my opinion. If it was just "stitch pain" it could be adhesions but I do not think you'd have the tenderness with adhesions. Unfortunately, imaging can miss a lot of things. An MRI may be able to get a better view. I hope you get answers and relief soon! Let us know what you find out.
