7wks pregnant just found out i have ovarian cysts

I found out I was pregnant on sept 15th. I have been cramping really bad. It mostly happens when I'm active but the pain is unbearable. I went to the er after work the other morning because I was having the pain but it was accompanied by severe dizziness. They did an ultrasound and told me there are cysts on my right ovary and that that's what's been causing the pain. They said that they grow with hormones (pregnant!) and they don't usually do anything to get rid of them. They told me to make an appt with my dr. That's seriously all they told me. My appt isnt til the 19th and I. Want to kno if cysts can harm the baby? How big can they get? Could I have had these before I got pregnant? What causes them? What type of ovarian cysts are most common? Should I be worried?

Miss pink angel is right the cyst will cause no harm to your unborn baby. I also had a dermoid cyst 9cm found on us during early pregnancy. However since I have an active job and my back and side pain were flaring up from the cyst, he put me on bedrest at 6mo, since he was worried about torsion or rupture.  I delivered my son vaginally in April with no complications from
The cyst. Now 5 months postpartum I will be getting it removed. So try to enjoy your pregnancy and if it starts acting up take it easy :)

To put your mind at rest, I had a 12 week scan and everything was normal, but at 16 weeks I started to get really bad cramps, but the drs dismissed this as normal pregnancy pain. At my 20 week scan they found a cyst on my left ovary which explained the pain.  Anyway, like you I was really worried about the effect on my pregnancy, but they told me pregnancy is precious, the cyst won't harm me or the baby so they won't do anything about it until after the baby is born.  The only effects I had, was the pain got worse as the pregnancy progressed and it was painful as i gave birth.  But the baby was fine throughout.  My baby's now 7 months old and they've finally decided the cyst needs to go.  I'm in the uk so may be different from how your cared for, but please don't worry about baby I'm sure it will be fine.  I was just as anxious as you and it ruined my pregnancy (see my thread multi septated cyst in pregnancy)! good luck and try and enjoy your pregnancy :-)
