After Your Lap

For you ladies, that have already had your lap, can you let me know how long you had spotting and/or bleeding?  I know it varies, I just want to get a general consensus.  Because my cycles are regular now, it appears I will be on day 3 of my cycle the day I have my lap done.  I have 3 days of light flow followed by 2 days of spotting, and I'm just curious to know if my lap will extend this spotting or if it will probably resolve since I will already be menstruating.

Thank you,
LaCretia

Been thinking of you. I have your name on my little calendar and know your surgery day is almost around the corner. I wish I could ease your fears and worries. The only thing that will help is the moment you wake up and it's all over. Ahhh, the big sigh of relief. We'll be waiting for the good news. Later. . . .

thanks again for your comments.  surprisingly my cycle showed early (it came friday, wasn't expecting it until sunday/monday) and it's done. i'm hoping that will limit the spotting after surgery, a girl can hope right  i know it can go either way, just hoping, lol.

I just had my surgery July 19, but my doc also did an ablation because fibroids were noted in my ultrasound and I have very, very heavy periods.  I had bleeding/spotting for 4 weeks afterwards.  Nothing since then and its now 2 1/2 months post-op.  I'm glad to hear from everyone that it may still take another couple months for the other ovary to figure out that it needs to work double-time.

Other things to note: I've felt no hormonal imbalance, so I'm pleased with that.  My hair is thinning, which doesn't surprise me, but does make me sad.  My hair thinned and grayed after my appendectomy 20 years ago (when I was 6 months pregnant).  I'm just hoping it doesn't get too bad and recovers quickly.

Well shucks - I'm menopausal and I had spotting (pantiliner needed) for a couple weeks. I had to go out and buy some. Brought back fond memories. . . not!

Yup...your cycle will be off for a while.  At my first surgery (where I had an ovary and cyst removed) I, too, bled for about 5 days after surgery and then it took about 3 months before I was regulated.  I remember spotting for a long time and had to take progesterone to stop it.  Then I didn't have anything for a while and had to take progesterone to start.  We think my remaining ovary just didn't pick up the slack.  But, I did get on a more regular cycle after about 3-4 months or so.  Everyone is different so just be prepared for anything, I guess.  = )

Throw regularity out the window.  The surgery plays havoc with your hormones and it will take a few months for you to get regular again.  I ended a period a week before my surgery.  The day after surgery I started bleeding and that went on for a little more than a week.  Two weeks after that stopped I had a period.  I had another one 3 weeks later.  Then I got back to regular.  Good luck with everything!
