Any relation of problems...

Does an ovarian cysts measuring 4.5cm on the left ovary and one slightly smaller on the right have anything to do with my frequent cycles? I have had 5 in the last two months. The last three within 7 days of each other. My gyno will be removing my left ovary along with the cyst. She mentioned edometriosis (sp), but won't know until she does the surgery. She will also remove anything else that may need removal if she needs to at the time of her surgery. She did do a biopsy of the uterus today and also ordered a CA-125, but i have had that test before and it came back okay.

She will do her surgery when the vascular surgeon who is doing an exploratory laparotomy to remove a mass/tumor that is calcified, egg shape, that is underneath the aorta is done with his surgery . They can not biopsy the mass/tumor due to location so they can not tell me if it is cancerous or not, that is the reason for the removal.

My symtopms are weight loss (30lbs in a yr) no not trying, nor do I excersice. My weight is down to 100lbs or less.I also have night sweats, muscle/bone pain in the thighs/legs. Lower back pain. I know now the reason for the pelvis/abdominal pain (cysts).

Just wondering if the cycles have anything to do with the ovarian cysts.

Thanks for any opinions.

Oh, yeah, the cysts were 2cm back in Nov.(they just happened to catch them on a ct scan doen for the tumor) but my regular doctor said they were normal and when I went twice, once in Dec, and once in Jan, she told me that it was most likely early menopaus and to take alleve for the pain She did not even do a pelvic exam when i told her about the pain. She said since she did one in April all was okay.

girl i feel for ya! if you check out my journal entries you can see my journey through out the last six months. since my laproscopic surgery on jan 2nd i haven't stopped bleeding. i should have just started my monthly cycle with my birth control but my body must be way out of order lol. my doctor removed a cyst the size of a golf ball off my left ovary plus work on it?? not sure what he meant by that. i go next week to have another ultrasound before he will do a hysteroctomy... crazy as it seems he thinks my cyst is back but now on my right side b/c its the side giving me the most trouble right now instead of the left. i'm ready for this to be over. it's gotta get better but DO NOT let them ignore anything you have going on b/c if your not careful the cysts will rupture. i know and my hurt very very very bad. worse than labor!

Wow, you certainly have a lot on your plate right now.  We don't see frequent cycles as a normal symptom of cysts.  Take a look at the health pages (top right) for some of the standard cyst issues.  It is possible that endometriosis might be contributing.  When is your surgery scheduled for?  I do hope all goes well and please keep us posted.
