Bad bruising 9 days after removing ovary?

I don't know if anyone here can help me, but I had a large tumor on my left ovary that developed from a cyst, and they ended up taking the ovary/tube/tumor combo (there was no separating it) on Jan. 20th - 9 days ago.  Yesterday and today I started getting bad bruises, some near the incision and some farther out, today's new bruise is almost at my hip.  They have all started as being yellow/green and got dark purple from there.  Has anyone had this happen?  Is it normal or should I see a dr?

I love your name! :) I definitely think you should call your doctor.  I did not have that happen with either of my laparotomies.  But, it is possible it is nothing and that they put pressure on your abdomen that caused the bruising.  I have read of others having that happen.  It is still very important to report this symptom to your doctor.  Best wishes on a speedy healing!

Oddly I have no bruising around the incisions, just my sides. Also had a bit "down there" for a day or two, but luckily it went away quickly.

I did see my Dr. about it and he said the extent of the bruising I had was normal after undergoing major surgeries like this.  It is worth checking out with your Dr, for peace of mind if nothing else.  If it's right where your incision is, I would think that's just the normal healing process - and mine went 'backwards' too - started out yellow then purple, then back to yellow.

My sides are a display of rainbow colours at the moment. I had 2 surgeries, first bikini, then midline incisions to remove a 2.4 kg cyst/ovary/tube. I ended up with a hemorrhage. Keep an eye on your skin colour, you go very pale if you loose blood, I got very light heads, high pulse and felt very tired as well. My symptoms may have been a bit extreme as my hemoglobin fell to 5.5 though. My bruising happened straight after the surgeries, but if you strained yourself you may have pulled something.
Get yourself checked out, hopefully you only have a minor bleed, but better safe than sorry.

I  had lap surgery 5 days ago..removal of a right ovary, fallopian tube due to a VERY large dermoid cyst.  I was just searching the web to see if bruising could mean anything serious.  I will call my doctor tomorrow but I wonder what happened to you?  My  bruising is under the belly button incision...it looked yellow at first, but just now I looked and it is all purple!  ?

I would see a doctor as it sounds like you have some bleeding or something going on under your skin.  I wouldn't wait too long to see your doctor and I would see the one who did the surgery.  Good luck, Sharon
