A new issue....I had minor bleeding after my surgery last Tuesday (to be expected). I started bleeding heavy on Saturday and pushed it off that it was my period. Today is day 7 and I'm still bleeding bad. I'm a normalNormal saline flush person who can wear a tampon with no worries and I can't wear them now as I'm bleeding through them and changing my pad several times a day. Not to gross anyone out, but when I go to the bathroom I'm dripping blood. I know you all is say this is not normalNormal saline flush....but does anyone have a clue? I wasn't too bad yesterday when I went to my dr for post-op check, but today is really bad. I called and left a message with the nurse, but won't hear back until noon.
So I decided that after work I would come home and rest. It seems that when I'm laying down the bleed slows down, but when I'm up and about it gets heavy again..doesn't sound normalNormal saline flush for a period, does it?
I'm starting to cramp really bad so I took a pain pill and it seemed to ease it a little, but not too much.
I'm still up in arms about this...I really don't want to end up back in the hospital, but I can't risk my health either. If I could only lay in bed all day this wouldn't be a problem :-) but reality is here and I can't.
So...with that all said...any suggestions? Thanks again!
I agree that the bleeding sounds excessive. I was going to suggest you try to relax with your feet up, as that sometimes helps slow down the flow. But it looks like you have already figured that out. ;) I would make the appt. to go in, if it were me. Sorry I couldn't be more help... do let us know how things turn out for you.
God bless...
Cheryl
Hmmm.. since I'm no doctor, I have no real answers for you.. but I agree with all the above that it doesn't sound "right".
A couple of things hit me.. and forgive me if I should know the answers based on previous posts but... did you have a D&C as well as lap procedure? If so , the bleeding may continue. I did and I'm postmenopausal .. but still bled for a few days.. Or... and I know this is far out--------is it possible you are or were pregnant?
And I agree, you should def. try to get in to see Dr. ...
Hi there,
Wow, I find it very strange that a nurse (I'm one) would tell you to take Motrin to stop the bleeding. That is downright wrong. Maybe she meant to take it for cramps... Hmm, I don't know and I don't get that at all. At any rate, it sounds like you might be doing too much. If the bleeding is worse when you have been up and around and better when you lay down, then your body must be telling you something. You need to take it easy. You are not healed yet. I hope you feel better and if you are still bleeding heavy, I would definitely go to see the doc this afternoon. Take care and hope you feel better

First, to the Sandymac...I'm definitaly not pregnant....I had a tubaligation in '96 and they also did a pregnancy test since one never knows.
I finally got in to see the doctor yesterday afternoon. He proceeded to tell me, which no one told me or my parents after the surgery, that not only did he do a laparoscopy he went in vaginally (which now all makes sinces as to why I couldn't...not that I would want to...have intercourse for 2 weeks). When he went in vaginally he lifted my uterus which is now causing the bleeding. He did look and said that this was minimal bleeding (I said maybe for you, but this is not normal for me). He also gave me some weird word for what it is called, but basically is it man produced bleeding. Which means, he caused me to do this. I sarcastically thanked him greatly and told him I could have do without the kidness of that.
So, with the next question I asked him how long I would be bleeding for....his answer...I can't answer that. Now I wonder how long I will be wearing these lovely pads as I'm bleeding too heavy to be wearing tampons and honestly they hurt.
That's about all of it in a nutshell. I'm going to try to keep it easy this weekend, but having to run the kids around it's a littlehard.
Thanks again for all of your advice and I'll keep you all update. Have a GREAT weekend :-)
Im so glad you called. The bleeding sounds excessive to me. Especially since it is a change from the norm for you. Dripping blood into the toilet is excessive. It could be all related to hormones and your uterine lining is shedding, but it is good you called. I think a hemorrhage is defined as going through a pad an hour. Are you doing that? Let us know what the doc says...
