How you feel will likely depend on if you take HRT or not. Was your surgery for some type of cancer? If not, you will definitely want to take hormones until the age you would have hit menopause. I went into immediate surgical menopause at age 37 and was not able to take HRT due to cancer. It has been very hard for me. Everyone is different and some people have a harder time than others. If you take HRT, you probably won't notice many changes except lack of a period.
If you aren't taking HRT, you could have any or all of the symptoms associated with menopause including hot flashes, vaginal dryness, insomnia, mood changes, a decreased libido and many others. Unfortunately, I had all of them.
Also, without hormones you at higher risk of osteoporosis and heart disease. I have the beginning stages of osteoporosis and it has only been three years since my surgery. You will need to be sure to take calcium supplements even if you are taking HRT in order to reduce your chances of bone loss.
Best of luck to you! I hope you sail through with no issues!
Wow how come you had to have both ovaries removed? My mother was only born with one ovary and then had the other removed when she was in her 50s. She said she didn't notice any drastic changes at all. I'm sure you will feel a little hormonal, not sure if they gave you any hormones to balance out you system at such a early age? Sorry you had to go through all that so young, take care.
My goodness! Both ovaries! I feel for you. I really can't say anything your doctor hasn't already said. Just take it easy! (as people keep telling me to do!)
Hope you feel better quickly.
