CA125

My CA125 result was 4.6, doctor has indicated this as "high", yet normal range is 5-35!!  Any idea why she is telling me this is high??

Honey, ask the doctor.

It just dawned on me. Are you maybe reading those lab ranges online versus on the report that shows your level of 4.6? That could explain the discrepancy. But that aside - this test is not generally useful.

I would be concerned that she is telling you that since it is well within range. What prompted you to have your CA-125 level drawn? It is not even accurate at diagnosing ovarian cancer as an elevated level can be caused by other things. A friend of mine had a CA-125 over 1000 when she had a benign (non-cancerous) ovarian cyst. She was over-treated (de-sexed) when all that should have been done was monitoring of the cyst or removal of JUST the cyst. The same thing happened to me except my CA-125 was not elevated.
