I had an endometrioma that persisted and was surgically removed because I was having pain and it did not go away. I also had several other times when I had cysts that did go away on their own. Finally, three years ago, I had a 6cm complex cyst which was ovarian cancer. Of course, that one was surgically removed. You must always follow up for each new cyst because they can be different types. Usually, cysts do go away on their own. When they are complex and larger than 5cm, you need to go for surgery versus watching and waiting. Good luck to you!

Did your cyst go away on their own or did you have to have surgery?
Unfortunately, cysts do tend to recur, especially with endometriosis. I do think it is likely that menopause is the reason for your lack of period. But, it is worth calling your gyn and getting a transvaginal ultrasound to check and see if you have another cyst. I have had many cysts over the years. Even before they were confirmed by scans, I could tell I had them by the dull, heavy pain on one side. If you are wondering if you have another cyst, it is worth checking.
