Complex cyst on right ovary

by Linny82, Jul 31, 2009 05:29PM
Yesterday my doctor found a 2cm complex cyst on my right ovary. I knew something was going on because I was having strange symptoms that almost identical to early pregnancy symptoms, but the urine pregnancy tests came back negative. The doctor said that I should stay on my birth control for 4 weeks and take the pills so I don't have a period to see if the cyst will shrink. I have another ultrasound scheduled for beginning of September. I have extreme cramping and nausea and look 4 or 5 months pregnant. I feel helpless sitting around doing nothing. From what I read complex cysts are more serious and should not be taken lightly. I called the dr today and told her my worries and she simply said that there was nothing that could be done except for wait and call if the symptoms get worse. She told me to take ibuprofen for the symptoms, but I can live on that. If the cyst does not shrink within 4 weeks, then she said it may have to be removed. I am scared that it is going to rupture and feel very uncomfortably "full" and bloated. Can a 2cm cyst make you look that bloated and cause such severe symptoms? I feel alone right now and feel that the doctor doesn't understand how much pain I am in. Has anyone had a similar experience?

My symptoms were similar with me feeling pregnant too (extreme nausea, a little swollen and really sensitive to smells).  DI am a little over a week post-op.  Do not let this go.  Find another doctor and get a second opinion.

Did you also have a complex cyst? I've been on birth control for 12 years now and thought it was rare to get cysts. Did they do a laparoscopy to remove the cyst and did they biopsy it? How are you feeling now?
