Could this be more than an ovarian cyst?

Lat September while having my period I experienced excruciating pain on my right side.  It was a sharp pain as if someone stuck a knife in my side.  It was unrelenting for hours and I had to lay in bed and could not more.  It subsided and then exactly 12 hours later occurred again.  I went to the ob/gyn about a month later and they found a uterine/cervical polyp on the pap smear which they said was benign.  I also had a cyst that was about 2cm and it was during the middle of my cycle and that said the lining was slightly thickened.  The symptoms of achiness subsided so I did not return for another ultrasound.  Now, over the past two months, I have had a lot of discomfot in my right side near my ovary, near my belly button and lower back. At times my abdomen seems to be bloated and then goes down.  I am terrified this may be cancer.  I set an appointment with my gyn next Wednesday but am so afraid to go.  Could this be symptoms of a cyst or cancer?

Great ideas from Sharon.  It definitely could be that the cyst you had didn't disappear and is causing you pain.  You need to get another transvaginal ultrasound and take a look at that too.  Good luck and don't be scared.  You are taking charge of your health and that is a good thing.
