Depression after oopherectomy

Is it normal that i feel sad and anxious? My right ovary was removed due to ovarian cyst last January 19. Is it just a mood swing or hormonal imbalance? Please help me.

Removal of even one ovary can disrupt hormones either temporarily or permanently. Unfortunately, far too many women lose an ovary or ovaries for ovarian cysts when all that should be removed is the cyst. The uterus, ovaries, and tubes all work together. When that system is altered in any way, it can disrupt natural hormone production. The ovaries of a woman who has all her parts will produce hormones her whole life which are critical to good health.

I am wondering the same thing. I had one ovary and tube removed a few days ago. I guess I'm curious as I'm a 65 year old woman and I didn't realize that our ovaries actually do continue to supply hormones throughout our lives. Since my surgery I've been feeling weepy and over emotional. I think getting a bit of exercise, walking, is our best medicine.
