Enlarged ovary w/cysts?

I recently had a period that lasted for four weeks, w/heavy bleeding and clotting every day.  Finally took the time to go to the Dr., and all my hormone levels were normal, as well as thyroid etc.- I was pretty anemic, but I expected that from all the blood loss.  So my Dr. ordered a pelvic ultrasound to rule out fibroids, cysts, etc.  Found out my left ovary is significantly larger than the right with multiple cysts.  I'm supposed to go get another ultrasound in 4-6 wks to see if the cysts went away, but also was told to see a gyno to see if anything else needed to be done.  Could I have PCOS if my hormone levels were all normal?  After bleeding for four weeks, I stopped for about a week and a half, then started bleeding again...I've never had this happen before.  Whenever I've been stressed I've skipped a period or two; I don't usually bleed over 3-4 days for my period, so this is so bizarre.  I had cramps while bleeding, but nothing that's abnormal for me...so, any ideas/suggestions?

Yes, made the gyno appt, but it's not for three weeks.  I'm sure it's treatable, I just hate not knowing what's wrong...I'm used to having weird stuff happen with my body, and I deal with migraines, but I've never bled more than a few days before.  I really don't want to have PCOS, because I want to start a family in a few years, and really don't want to have to deal with the fertility issues.  But, oh well, at least I'm not like some people on here, and panicking and thinking I have cancer :).

Have you made that gynocologist appt yet? I would think that you should do that, take your ultrasound report with you and you must tell them how much you were bleeding. That isn't normal, but could be very treatable.  Let us know!
