Free Fluid w/no sign of cyst...anyone had that happen?

by vles_99, Jul 30, 2008 04:38PM
Hi,

I've been 'lurking' on this site lately as I'm starting to get terribly frightened of what might be happening to me.  I have a strong family history of ovarian cancer (mother diagnosed at 49, maternal aunt diagnosed at 47, other maternal aunt - breast cancer, diagnosed at 45 - my mother was the youngest of all her sisters).  I am 39 and finally got the BRCA testing done and found out I am BRCA 2+.

I have been told that I do get cysts (although I do not think they have ever found them on my TVU's....just fluid sometimes - and the dr attributes them to cysts).  Recently, I felt a little (very little ) back pain and cramping and something just told me to get it checked out.  I also felt something that had the symptoms of sciatica (dull pain running down the left buttock, back leg, foot)...i started to worry if this is all related.

In the TV Ultrasound, they found fluid but no signs of a ruptured cyst.  That seemed to get me alarmed since I would think that there should be some signs of cyst material in there.  I had a 4 week follow up and the fluid is still there.  Now that I've come back as BRCA 2+, my gyn is now concerned.

I'm obviously terrified as I have had to think about the possibility of this happening since my mother passed 14 years ago (I kept thinking that as long as I get my ovaries removed by 40, i'd be ok.  I have 2 young children and I'm just terrified...that's the best way I can describe it).

I've looked for posts on free fluid with no signs of cysts and haven't seen anyone with similar circumstances.  Has anyone experienced this?

Another question I had was if anyone knows how long it normally takes for fluid from a burst cyst to be reabsorbed (I was told I had a 'moderate' amount of fluid...she was sure to also say 'not a little')?

thanks to all!!

I have the opposite told CT shows bilateral adnexal cysts with free fluid in posterior pelvic area.  I'm wondering where this fluid is coming from because why if the cysts are there, there is free fluid in there too.  I could see if they popped then the fluid comes out and irritates the inside that is why you have pain. I only have my ovaries. I'm very ill and so frustrated.  I also had two lumps in left breast, mammogram didn't pick them up, but the ultrasound did and they said they were cysts because they were gray and not black at 3 and 9 o'clock on the breast.  I also have been doubling over with pain, alot of fatigue, and severe back/flank pain with alot of other symptoms.  AS TO YOUR LAST QUESTION, I was told the fluid should absorb back in within a few days.  I don't know if I was much help, but please let me know if you find anything out as well.  I'm frightened too because I have nodules in my  abdomen, left lower lung, left side of neck, left side groin,  and the nodules in the abdomen have changed size since last CT.  I'm not very good on this site, not real familiar yet, so I hope this gets to the forum and you.

Good luck and many blessings,

Shannon

I, too, have free fluid with no signs of cysts.  What did you find out?

Hello,
Can anyone please help? It all started with a diagnosis of my first yeast infection.  I took Diflucan 1 and a week later a Monistat 1 treatment. I also was told I had free fluid around my ovary after an ultrasound after a strange burst of fluid leakage from my vagina.  I also had back, butt, and thigh pain, irritation around my vaginal area, and I was told it might have been a cyst that burst.  I have been to 6 doctor's appts,  (3 different doctors) an ER visit, (after the leakage..eww) and an ultrasound was done. I have taken 3 pregnancy tests in the last month and a half.  All negative. I am probably a thorn in their side.  I don't know who to see or what to do.  They referred me to a dermatologist for the redness around the outside of my vagina..I have been tested for everything under the sun STD related. My nerves are shot because of this.  Do I see a different GYNO? I feel that this "fluid" is the cause of the redness I get by the end of the day.  What do I do? Thank you!
