Gas, Bloating, Cramping, HELP?

Back in February I went in to see my gyno for my annual exam.  At that time, she couldn't locate the strings to my IUD, so she ordered an ultrasound to make sure it was still in place.  Thankfully, it was.  But, during this ultrasound she found 2 ovarian cysts, one simple, one complex.  I was advised to come back in 3 months for follow up.

I went back in, and the left ovarian cyst had resolved, but the simple one on the right side had grown to 5cm.  The doctor said "no big deal" and wants me to come back in February for my annual exam.

What is more concerning to me is that for at least the last year I have had a lot of issues with gas, bloating, upset stomach and constant loose stools.  Not necessarily diarrhea, but not formed.  I also have cramping similar to menstrual cramps most days of the week, with some days being much worse to the point of needing to lay down.  I have constant dull pain in my lower left pelvis.  My regular doctor said "IBS" the gyno said "I don't know".  I do not have a period because I have the Mirena IUD, which also according to the ultrasound, has caused my uterine lining to be so thin that I will not actually bleed.

Could all of this be related?  Should I seek another opinion?  Is 5cm big...because it seems big to me!  Oh yeah:  I am 26, no pregnancies, and otherwise healthy.  I have been tested for H. Pylori and Celiac disease as well.

My blood pressure goes sky high whenever I am reminded that there are still doctors out there who believe cysts do not cause pain and other symptoms.  Arghhh!!!!

Hi there, i have just had keyhole surgery on tues this week to have a 5cm cyst drained from my right side and also a 3cm from the left!!  I had all of the same symptoms you have and lived with them for some time before they got really bad and i was almost fainting with the pain!! Please push to get this dealt with your own sanity, its awful living in constant discomfort/pain. Take care, Claire.x

thanks for the input.  i may pursue a second opinion.  my doctor didn't seem to think any of the symptoms were related at all...but i was shocked that a 5cm cyst wouldn't be bothersome!

A cyst can definitely cause those symptoms and generally those 5cm and over are removed if they don't resolve themselves.  February is a long time to live with these symptoms.  I would push your doctor to act now or get a 2nd opinion.
