Had surgery 9 days ago...throat still bothering me

Hi all!
I am slowly recovering from my laperscopic cyst removal. It has been 9 days and I know they had to put a breathing tube in for the surgery but my throat still feels like something is stuck in it (towards the top) It goes away when I eat or drink hot/cold food. My normal drinking or room temp water does not relieve this annoyance. Any idea's....should I call my doctor? I see her on Thursday. Thanks Tanja

Hi Tanja,
I would say that if you don't have a fever that it is OK to wait until your appointment.  If it gets more uncomfortable or harder to swallow then I would call tomorrow.

I hope that otherwise you are recovering nicely.

Take care!

Thank so much. Do you think I can call on Monday or that I need to call the dr on call today? I have had no fever. My tonsils look a little swollen but I thought that was because I am fighting off a tiny cold. (little bit of a stuffy nose and just feeling poorly, I'm feeling a little better today as far as the cold goes) My throat doesn't really hurt it just feels like something is stuck in there. Like am constantly getting a throat culture done except it isn't moving. I did look and I didn't see anything lol but I'm thinking that I got scratched or something.
Thanks,
Tanja

Hi There..
Sorry you are having trouble after surgery. As a nurse in the recovery room, it says right on our discharge instructions, that a sore throat after surgery is common, however within 2-3 days that should be gone. You should call the doc and let them know. Are your tonsils swollen? Do you have a temp? Sandy's advice is excellent. Definitley gargle with warm salt water and maybe try some throat lozenges.....But do call the doc.
Good luck

I think I'd call the office and just ask about it. Seems it would have gone away by now. Has it improved at all? Wonder if it would help to gargle with some warm salt water.. you might ask if that's o.k. Can't think why not, but I'm no Dr. ..

Hope you feel better,
Sandy
