Help please.

Hi. I'm 47 years old and told after having a transvaginal ultrasound that I have a 1cm nodule on the left side and a 2cm complex cyst on the right side. I'm in a lot of lower abdomen pain. I had a pap but haven't got the results yet. In really worried about ovarian cancer. I don't know of any I my family but they seem small to cause this type of pain. Has anyone else experienced this and came to the other side?

Thank you for your response. I've been really freaking out about this. I do have some pain meds  and am scheduled to get my pap results next Friday. I really appreciate you comment. It helps to have someone to talk to who has been through this.

Welcome Sunshine. Take a deep breath! Some women do have quite a bit of pain with small cysts. I am not sure why some do and others do not. To some degree, it can be explained by our different thresholds for pain but there is more to it. I had no pain at all until my (complex) cyst was 9cm.

As far as ovarian cancer, most cysts are benign (non-cancerous) especially in women without a family history / predisposition for ovarian cancer.

Since your cysts are still small and cysts tend to resolve on their own in 2 to 3 cycles, is your doctor just monitoring them for now? Hopefully, if this is the plan, you can keep the pain to a tolerable level with pain meds.

Keep us posted on how you are doing. Hope it is all soon behind you.
