How do BC pills help treat complex cysts?

Please explain how birth control pills help treat a complex cyst.  I am wondering how this can help this type of cyst which could be cancerous.  How can this help determine if the cyst is cancerous or not.  I do not want to take birth control pills!  I do want to rule out cancer, how do I do this?  Why would I wait to find out by taking BC pills for months, months that a cancerous tumor could grow and possibly spread?  Thanks.

I'm on your side with this.  I wouldn't put much faith in BC pills curing a complex cyst.  They are good at preventing new cysts from forming or correcting hormonal imbalances that make menstruation very irregular (sometimes caused by a cyst), but there's a lot of disagreement whether they can make existing cysts shrink. Complex cysts can contain cancer, but not always.  It's still a rare disease but a very dangerous one.  Complex cysts are the most worrisome of the many types of cysts a person can have, particularly any solid features.

The only way to be sure the risk is removed is to remove the cyst surgically.  Even doctors cannot be completely certain how benign (or not) a complex cyst is without surgical removal and full pathology.
