How long before period returns

Hi.I had Laparoscopic surgery on Oct 20th to remove a cyst and stage 3 endometriosis they also found pre-cancerous polyps,I am still in a bit of pain from the gas and I bleed for 6 days after the surgery.I had the surgery on CD 12 of a normal 28 day cycle,I was wondering how long does it take after the surgery for AF to show and am I to expect a heavy painful period?Any info would help I am leaving for a cruise next week and it would really suck to have my period show up.

Thanks in advance.

Periods can be unpredictable after surgery. It takes time for the body to heal and cycles to regulate and every woman's post op situation is different. You will likely have to go on the cruise prepared for the possibility of having a period (but hopefully not have one). What is more important is the fact that pre-cancer was removed.
