How long before your fully functional after laproscopic cyst removal?

Hi -
I was diagnosed with a very large ovarian cyst about 3 weeks ago. It had hurt like the dickens 4-5 days prior, which added to extreme nausea finally led me to the emergency room. A week and a half later the decision was made it needed to come out. It was a complex ovarian cyst on my left ovary, initially thought to be about 8 cm, but ended up being 6 cm x 2 cm x 6 cm. I was told quite impressive. (Yay!)
I had laproscopic surgery 7 days ago, and today I am back at work. The pain is still excruciating. It hurts to sit, and walk, or stand. Laying down is only comfortable with a heating pad or my heating blanket.
My questions are:
How long does it take before the pain subsides to not having to resort to taking anything?
When can I sit with my pants buttoned again?

And will sex ever feel normal again? I've only tried twice with my long term partner since we realized I had the cyst. Both times it felt like I couldn't maintain libido, and it felt extremely uncomfortable, like friction. If you have ever had sex with a yeast infection, that is the best way I can think to describe it. Does your body ever go back to where sex is bearable, much less feels good again?

Thanks,

Miss_K

I had one and bled for a month, plus got super tired (perhaps from the bleeding).  Bloodwork came back normal, but vitimins made me feel better, especially iron.  I'd take it easy with the sex and activity for at least a few weeks.

Everyone is different so give yourself as much time as you need to be comfortable. I had a lap in November and was out of work for a week and fine by the second week. I barely moved for the first two days and then did a little walking around the house as recommended by the nurse, it def helped. Don't worry about your libido... your body has had to work hard to deal with pain and needs time to repair before your brain can focus on sexual activity. Don't stress and best of luck with your recovery! x

Having been only 1 week post-op when you posted, it's not unusual that you were still in a bit of pain and bloated. The gas they use to blow up the abdomen for a better visual field can cause pain and bloating in addition to the cutting. You should be feeling a bit better by now although it will take over a month or two to be back to "normal." Are you sure intercourse is allowed at this point? I don't know what the normal recommendation is for cyst removal. And did they remove just the cyst or the whole ovary? That can dictate how long or if hormones return to normal.
