How much bleeding is normal after laparoscopy -- complicated by period

I had spotting/light bleeding after my 28th June laparoscopy which then turned into my period which was due July 1st. It really came in on 3rd. July and I am bleeding still. I only go through about 2-3 pads/day, never have to change at night so it's not particulary heavy, about normal for my period. It just seems long due to the surgery. At what point do I become concerned?

I'm not sure that I can be of much help, but I had a laprascopy for endo in February.  I bled for about a week, then spotted on and off.  I then had a pretty heavy period that lasted about 8 days, then another one lasting about 5 days a week later. Honestly, I have had more days that I have bled than not since the surgery.  I think that the scope and breaking some of the endo loose probably causes the bleeding. Also, I am coming off of the Depo shot, so that may have something to do with it as well.  So...I think some bleeding is to be expected, however, if you have bled constantly for 3 months, I can't think this is normal.  I would probably keep bugging the doctor's office about it until they agree to see you.  If it is the birth control, maybe you need to switch methods.  That may be a way to get you an appointment.  Call and ask for an appointment to switch methods.  Then, at least, you can get in there and hopefully be heard.  Good luck!

Hi everyone,

I had my laparoscopy for endometriosis on January 7th and am still constantly bleeding. It's not heavy enough to justify a trip to the emergency room, but since it has been nearly 3 months I'm pretty concerned. I've called my OBGYN who assures me that this is somehow an issue with my birth control and is not from the surgery even though it never stopped after the surgery and I did not have this issue before the surgery. I am really frustrated and can't seem to find any information about what could be causing this. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

I had laparoscopy for endometriosis n cyst removal 3weeks ago. My doctor put me on Danazol  to make fake menopause. I had light bleeding the first two weeks and now I'm on heavy period. I'm so worried. Does anyone have the same problem?

I had my laparscopic surgery on December 19th.  On December 20th, I started my period and it hasn't stopped yet.  The doctor changed my birth control pills, but that didn't stop it.  Now, she put me on two months of estrogen. This is driving me crazy. I hate having a period for 5 to 7 days, but two months+ (still on it) is driving me INSANE! It doesn't help my husband and I's love life either.

obviously this is late to comment but this is just in case anyone were to scroll down this now... but they can still do the surgery if you are on your period. I had my lap four days ago and with my luck I started my period the morning of my surgery. I let them know once I got to the hospital and they said that was totally fine. However, because the surgery messes around with your ovaries and such, your period does get messed up for the month. I bled heavily for the day of my surgery and the day after and then my period suddenly stopped. I thought to myself, "cool! 2 day period, im done!" but low and behold my period came back again today :( however I am a little nervous this time because though it is not as heavy, the blood is very very dark (almost black) and I have been VERY dizzy all day.

ps. my procedure was to remove severe endometriosis and multiple ovarian cysts on both ovaries.
