I have had a cyst on my ovary for over a year. It has not grown in size, and it mesured one inch on 3 different ultrasounds throughout the year. The ovary that the cyst has formed on is also enlargedEnlarged adenoids Enlarged prostate. It has been mildly painfulPainful menstrual periods, with a few times throughout the year where the pain has increased. My gyno put me on birth controlControl Control rx to see if that would shrink the cyst. I started this treatment a week ago and the pain has increased day by day. Is this normalNormal saline flush?
I have never heard of someone going on bc pills to shrink a cyst that has been present for so long, so I cannot say for sure if the treatment can work or not. The pain could be the body adjusting to different hormone levels, the cyst being annoying as usual, or the cyst actually starting to break down/resolve. Do you have a follow up exam scheduled with the doctor a few weeks from now? It may help solve the mystery of whether the cyst is still there or not.
