Laparoscopy in 2 days

Ok ladies, I have read all your posts, especially those of you that have already had a laparoscopy....so I'm going through my pre-surgical anxiety now.... any words of wisdom that any of you have to share..... I know about the "gas" pains and possible constipation afterwards.... anything else that would be helpful.... or I'll just show up on wednesday morning like a true warrior and just say "do it".....  I really appreciate all that you all have shared these past months...  another question, did you all do a bowel prep the day before??  My doctor has me doing the GoLytely.....That's not a big deal, as I did one of those preps before a colonoscopy.  Thanks and many blessings to you all!!

Painterchic recently had laporascopic surgery and afterwards made a fantastically helpful and humorous posting you should look at.

Good luck and do add your surgery to the surgery dates on the health pages.

Hi,
Yes, I had to do the bowel prep too.. no fun. Also, you may want to invest in a "gopher".. It's a grabby thing on a pole so you don't have to reach or bend down. (Wal mart , etc. has them)  That really helped a lot! and drink plenty of water !!!
Afterwards, I  also ate prunes and took my usual Metamucil (although one member said her Dr. advised against the Metamucil  because of possible blockage) I diluted it a lot and it didn't cause any problems. I even took a few stool softeners (Dulcolax)  I'm prone to that sort of problem anyway, and sure didn't want to pop any stitches !
You'll fly right through this !! And we're here to answer any other questions that may come up.. when is your procedure??

Take care and let us know,
Sandy
