I had to do a bowel prep , I don,t think everyone does though . My gyn said it was incase the bowel is accidently nicked during surgery . Good luck , it will be all over before you know it , its amazing when you wake up and realize its all over !!!

Yes, I had to do the bowel prep too.. no fun. Also, you may want to invest in a "gopher".. It's a grabby thing on a pole so you don't have to reach or bend down. (Wal mart , etc. has them) That really helped a lot! and drink plenty of water !!!
Afterwards, I also ate prunes and took my usual Metamucil (although one member said her Dr. advised against the Metamucil because of possible blockage) I diluted it a lot and it didn't cause any problems. I even took a few stool softeners (Dulcolax) I'm prone to that sort of problem anyway, and sure didn't want to pop any stitches !
You'll fly right through this !! And we're here to answer any other questions that may come up.. when is your procedure??
Take care and let us know,
Sandy

Good luck and do add your surgery to the surgery dates on the health pages.
