Laparoscopy to remove ovaries scheduled next week.

getting ready to have a laparoscopy next week to remove both ovaries with a mass on the right one and a cyst on the left. Blood work is normal but it is still very scary. Scheduled for Thursday as an outpatient and the doctor is hopeful and does not expect any problems. Of course they will biopsy what they remove to make sure. She is also doing a D and C of the uterus to check the lining as a percaution also. What should I expect for recovery and when I wake up. I have had no periods in 15 years. I am 57. Will the D and C and ovaries being removed cause bleeding like a period. How long is recovery after a laposcopy? Any body else been there also?

I  hope you are continuing your recovery. How long did the procedure take, do you remember and did you also have it as an outpatient? I am scheduled for surgery at 7:30 AM and so hoping to be done and home by the afternoon, I realize that will depend on how I do in recovery and if I get sick or not....I am still kinda freaked out at the whole process anyway.

I just had my laparoscopy on Feb. 15th, 2012.  The doctor removed my right ovary, which had a dermoid and was twisted.  I also had a D & C.   I am still walking around like an old lady and get very tired easily.  My doctor lifted all restriction, but told me to listen to my body.  I didn't have any bleeding but had a slight discharge.  Every day I feel better, but for the first three/four days, I stayed mostly in my bed due to a low tolerance to the anesthesia.  I was so sick.  Each day, I just do a little more.  Hope this helps.  Good luck with your recovery.
