My story... Input appreciated

My story begins on December 9th. I was at work and I started having what felt like menstrual cramps, but only on the right side, in my pelvic area and wrapping around to the back. It was not time for my period though. The cramps quickly evolved into an excruciating burning pain in what I felt like was my right ovarian area. I was doubled over and barely holding back tears, only because I was at work. This was the worst pain I had ever felt short of childbirth, (I have 4 children.) Somehow, I made it through my shift and when I sat down in the car the pain went away. I did some googling and posted on Facebook and a cyst was one of the suggestions but the pain didn't come back to I just forgot about it with everything going on, Then on December 26th, the pain came back, again at work. After being in pain for a while I decided to go to the restroom and I had a large bowel movement, which relieved the pain and I got through the rest of my shift. The next day, my husband and I went to the mall and after walking around for a while, I started to get the pain again, although not as severe this time. We went home and after changing positions a few times, it went away. The next day, Monday December 28th, I got the pain again, at work. This time it was relieved by urinating. After having the pain for 3 days in a row, I was starting to get more worried. I called around and couldn't get in to see my doctor till Wednesday and couldn't even get an appointment with the gynecologist. So my husband took me to urgent care. Along with the possibility of a cyst, I was also considering that it might just be gas since the pain seemed to be relieved by going to the bathroom and/or changing position, although I was skeptical that gas would cause that kind of pain. I described what had been going on to the urgent care doctor and he said that I was probably constipated, even though I had been having bowel movements and he did an xray. Sure enough, I was very constipated. He said take some Miralax, add more fiber and drink more water and I'll be fine. So I did. I got the pain the following day, and again on Wednesday. That afternoon, I went to my doctor and explained the situation and she didn't question the diagnosis at all and told me to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate. So I did that on the following Saturday and had done several doses of milk of magnesia over the previous two days (I still was having the pain daily.) After that, I took Miralax daily, the constipation seemed to be relieved but I was still having the pain daily. I had a follow up appointment with my doctor on February 2 (for antidepressants that I had been prescribed at the previous appointment.) I told her that I was still having the pain daily. By this time, the pain had started radiating up across my right hip bone (kind of a stinging pain) and down onto my right inner thigh (more of an aching). My doctor suggested that it might have just been a coincidence that I was constipated when I went to urgent care and that the pain could have been unrelated and that I might have a cyst, like I originally thought. So she ordered an ultrasound. But she said that nothing that would be causing a pain in my pelvis could cause leg pain and started asking me about my back. She decided to order spine xrays and prescribed me a steroidal anti-inflammatory (methylprednisilone). I started taking the med the following day and that day and the next day, I still had the pelvic pain but it was dulled. After that, it changed. Instead of the excruciating burning pain a couple of hours a day, I was having various sensations in that same ovarian area almost 24/7. I would be crampy, achy, feel tugging, fullness, pressure, stretching (like a wishbone) almost constantly. I went to the gynecologist a couple of weeks later for an unrelated issue (a colposcopy for an abnormal pap) and brought it up to her. She said she would see if she could feel anything (she couldn't) but other than that would have to wait for the ultrasound. I finally had my pelvic and transvaginal ultrasounds on February 29th, after dealing with this for over 2 months. A few days later I got the confirmation that I did have a cyst on my right ovary. But it was a simple cyst and only 2.2cm. I went back to the gyno to discuss the colposcopy results and discussed the ultrasound results with her also. She said that a cyst that small shouldn't be causing me any problems. I already knew that from all the reading I had been doing but obviously I wasn't imagining all of this. So she ordered another ultrasound, to be done a minimum of 6 weeks after the first. She said I should do it right after my period (the first was right before my period, I was never told that it should be done at a specific time, I just took the first available appointment.) I haven't gone for that ultrasound yet because for the timing to be right I'll have to wait till the first week of May. But shortly after I got the confirmation of the cyst, I stopped having problems. They just gradually went away. Until this past Thursday, April 24th. I was at work and started getting the stinging across my right hip bone. Then I got it the following day also. Then on Saturday, April 26th, we were at an Easter celebration at the park with the kids and I started getting the stinging in my right hip bone area. Over the next hour or so it started radiating down onto my outer right thigh and it went from being uncomfortable to not being able to move. I was on the ground crying and screaming in pain. My husband had to carry me to the car. We went home and by the time I got inside, it was gone and it didn't come back the rest of the day. Yesterday, I started to get the stinging again and within about 10 minutes I took Motrin and it went away. Then last night I got really crampy. My period should be starting so I figured that was it, but by this morning it still hadn't started so now I'm not so sure. I'll see if it starts today. But I'm guessing that I have another cyst. I'm going to watch it and take Motrin at the first sign of pain because I can't deal with pain like I had Saturday again. Any input at all on all of this would be greatly appreciated. The doctors don't seem concerned, obviously. But I am... Thank you.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this. It's hard to say what's causing it. Some women do seem to have pain with small cysts. Let us know what the next u/s shows.
