Ovarian Cyst clarifacation

Hi to all,
I have been in pain for over a year around my left ovary, I was able to finally go to get an ultrasound and this is what it said. "Findings: LMP is unknown. The uterus measures 7.1 x 3.0 x 4.3 cm. The endometrium measures 3.5 mm. The left ovary measures 3.2 x 2.1 x 2.7 cm. The right ovary measures 4.4 x 2.0 x 3.3 cm. There is a 1.6 x 1.1 x 2.0 cm well- circumscribed round anechoic structure with posterior through-transmission in the right adnexa, likely reflecting a simple ovarian follicle. There is no pelvic free fluid."
** I just do not understand because my left quadrant hurts not my right, and I've been on birth control(nexplanon) for over two years straight, why would it be a simple follicular cyst, which usually happens when you ovulate? I do not believe the cyst on the "right" would be big enough to cause pain and pressure on the left side. Can anyone help please?

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I've heard other women say that their pain is on the opposite side of the cyst. I don't know why that happens. You can develop cysts even on birth control. Since this has been going on for over a year, the cyst may have nothing to do with it. Have you had any pelvic surgeries such that this could be scar tissue / adhesions? Any bowel issues (which can sometimes be mistaken for gyn issues)? Maybe a change in birth control is in order. Hope you get answers and relief soon!
