Ovarian Cyst pain?

Hello, in 2006 I had my rt ovary removed due to a 11.7 cm cyst. Now I find myself in a similar situation. I was told a few weeks ago that I have two cysts in my left ovary now, one is 4.8 cm and one is 2.1...the U/S showed no free fluid..whatever that means. Anyway, the last time I never experienced any symptoms to speak of. The pain I am feeling now is on my left side just under my ribs, this pain wraps around to my back. I have massive bloating which in itself causes discomfort. Can this pain I am having be contibuted to the cysts? It gets very intense at times.
Thank you in advance for any input you provide,
Tammy

Thanks for the suggestion..moist heat for some reason does seem to take the edge off the pain. I am going in for surgery on May 16th. The cyst continues to grow and with the growth comes new sometimes intense discomfort. I now have pain in my hip/pelvic area and lower back pain.  However I look at this as just another chance to prove to myself just how strong I am. Before my biggest fear was cancer however this time around I just fear missing so much time from work. I just found out today that my 20 yr old daughter is having surgery the same day I am just an hour later. (same doc same hospital) for virtually the same reason, it made us both laugh, and laughter is the best medicine.
Please keep both of us in your prayers on the 16th.

Yes, bloating and intense pain do belong to the symptoms of ovarian cysts. Try to drink an alchemilla herbal infusion 2x a day, you should get relief in few days! Also keep yourself warm, hot water bottle maybe.
Good luck.

Thank you so much for your response. I am 42 and had an endometrial ablation in 09 so I no longer have cycles. My gyn has adviced against bc in the past so I am not sure. I see him on Tuesday so I will discuss my options then. I am just hoping these go away on their own. I am not even sure what kind they are...the U/S just said unilocular for the 4.8cm and after it described the 2.1 cm it said no free fluid was evident. I obtained a copy of the report on my own, for my records. I see the gastoenterologist tomorrow so I will ask him.
Thank you again for your input, I really appreciate it.

I do believe it is....I have had the same pain for years.  I started Depo Provera birth control...which stops your period and keeps cysts from growing any larger and sometimes they reduce in size. I know from my exp.that it has helped a ton with the pain.   I don't know how old your are but the Depo Provera shot does rob bones of calcium...so soon I will switch my birth control to Lybrel...it also stops your period.  Good luck to you...I hope this helps you.
