Ovarian Cysts

Hello everyone

I am new to this so please bear with me. For me it started last september when i went to see my GP as i had not had a period for 3 months and was not pregnant and constant diareah, i also had some sight problems which i wish i had not said as he sent me down the wrong road thinking i have a pitituary tumor, which my endo consultant did some blood tests and ruled this out saying she thinks i have mild pcos. Eventually my periods started again but were very heavy and very very painful which is still happening now. In December although i was still going to the toilet which was very unpleasant my stomach bloated which made me look 9 months pregnant (no exageration) and did not go away my doctor sent me to A/E and they did an xray thinking i had a blockage which showed my bowels had stopped working and i was extremely constipated to the point that he told me i had to stay in and have enema's until it was clear as it was all the way up into my intestines and could burst or come out of my mouth!!! Which was extremely disgusting. After i left the doctors sent a written referal to a gastro doc as it had been going on for so long and was different to my usual ibs symptoms which i have the appointment on Monday. I went back to my GP at the beginning of this week as i have been having pain when i need to urinate (instead of saying i need to go to the toilet, im say owwww i need to to the toilet) and i have been experiencing exteme bloating which is happening more and more often (with or without food) and can just happen anywhere (i was in tescos the other day paing for shopping and all of a sudden i got pain and my stomach blew up so i looked like i was 9 months pregnant) It stayed like that until this morning but is still quite bloated. My GP has now sent me for an ultrasound as he thinks i may have a cyst on my ovary. My questions is has anyone ever had the same problems as me??

Thank you

Gemxx

Thank you so much for your messages it has realy helped. i had 3 enemas, movical and other medicines for the blocked bowel, i am seeing a gastro dr on Monday and am waiting for my appointment to come through for my ultrasound, which should be within the next 2 weeks. Yesterday my stomach went down slightly then 2 hours later it grew back to looking 9 months pregnant again so uncomftable and painful for the last 4 days now it has not gone away. I will keep you posted on what the ultrasound says and also the gastro dr.

Thank you

Hi Gem, sorry to hear what you are going through. Like you i suffered with very bloated stomach for a long time  and like you it could happen so quickly. For years i was being treated for IBS like you, but then mine turned out to be Diverticulitus. Had surgery for this but 12 mths on bloated stomach was still there and then a cyst was found. It does sound like a cyst as funnygirl says the symptoms are there. hope you get sorted really soon and come on here for support, take care.

Hi and welcome to the forum!  You will find a lot of helpful and compassionate women on here ready to offer support and advice. I have had a few of the problems you are talking about like the painful urination and the diarrhea.  I do get bloating, but it is not as bad as what yours is.  What did they do for your blocked bowels?  When do you go for your ultrasound?  I would say that you do have symptoms of an ovarian cyst, but those are also symptoms of other problems as well.  I will be anxious to find out what the ultrasound says.  I am sorry that you are feeling so badly!! I hope you get some relief soon.  Please keep us posted on how you are doing
