Ovarian cyst and anteverted, bulky uterus

Hello,

I need advice for my friend. She is 36 years old and had 2 kids (aged 13 and 9) by c-section. She has been complaining of intermittent (once in a 1-2 months) stomach pain since long time. Earlier she used to have pain in right side of the stomach but now she feels the pain in entire stomach. We got her ultrasound done this morning.

Results
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ovary :
Right ovary : E/o 2.7 * 2.3 cm. Cystic lision is noted in right adnexa.
Left ovary : not visualized.
No e/o ascites/pleural effusion.
No e/o abdominal lympha denopathy.

Uterus :
Anteverted, bulky in size and measures 11.4 * 3.9 * 5.3 cms. and shows homogenous echotexture.
Endometrial thickness 7mm.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Please advice whether she would need a surgery for removal of the cyst. Also, does this look like a non-cancerous cyst? What are the treatments recommended for bulky uterus?

Please suggest.

Regards,
Riya.

Thank you Dr.Kaur. My sister consulted a gynaecologist yesterday. She examined her and said that the uterus is enlarged because of excessive enzymes secreted from Ovary. There was no test conducted. She gave her some pills (Beviry, Novelon). She needs to go for tests again after 2 months.

I will keep you posted.
Thanks again for your advice.

Regards,
Riya.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Cysts are fluid-filled sacs that can form in the ovaries. They are common in child bearing age.  Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own.

A Bulky Uterus is a condition where a woman's uterus gets a benign growth that gets progressively larger with time. It can be due to adenomyosis. The typical signs of adenomyosis are prolonged, heavy bleeding during your periods or severe cramping. To confirm the diagnosis which has still not been done in your case, ultrasound and MRI scan and biopsy of endometrial tissue need to be done.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
