Ovarian cyst/tumour & appendicitis?

I went to hospital with severe lower abdominal pain. After several tests, they noticed a cyst or tumour (radiologist's words exactly) on right ovary, and swollen appendix and elevated white cell count. Surgeon opted to not to an appendectomy as he felt that I have a cyst which leaked fluid causing irritation to appendix. I was not prescribed any antibiotics or painkillers. The pain has since eased off - now sporadic. My family doc is away for a few weeks, and I'm frustrated that I can't seem to get anything specific. I'm not prone to ovarian cysts, but I did have an ovarian pregnancy last summer on the right ovary. My ultrasound report shows Segment 7 of liver a 7mm hyperechoic lesion suggestive of a hemangioma. Small amount of fluid in pelvis. Appendix is thickened at 8mm with some increased echogenicity of adjacent fat. Right ovary contains a hemorrhagic cyst measuring 4.4 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm.

I should also mention that 10 month prior to my ovarian pregnancy I had a tubal ligation.  The pregnancy was treated methomextrate, then I had my second tubal about 6 wks later.  I have never had any issues or was reported to have cysts in my nether regions, and am now 35yrs old.  I do get cysts in my breast which run with my cycle.  I have always had regular cycle and normal periods, for me lasting on average 5 days, moderate cramping for the first couple days.

My concern is that 1) the radiologist said cyst or tumour on right ovary, but later worded the report to cyst, 2) all my research has not yet found someone to appear with both cyst & appendicitis, and 3) the doc looking after my doc's patient while away does not feel the need to look at me and is ok with me waiting for another 5 weeks.  I'm totally frustrated and hate the waiting game, and I'm not sure what to expect? I have put on 8lbs in the last month, I've been tired, have had headaches almost everyday for the last 3 weeks.
It's been about a week and a half since being at the hospital and I've just started my period.  I am noticing that with my normal cramping, my right side is also more sensitive - is this also normal?

So gyn let me send the report to her.  She said it's normal and to wait 4 months.  I'm sorry, but how can it be normal if one doctor says the cyst caused my appendicitis?  Again, more confusion.

Usually, yes you need a referral.  The doctor covering for my doc let me take a copy of the report on Thursday.  I was thinking of calling the gyn that looked after my 2nd tubal this week to see if it was possible to have her review it.
I really appreciate you responding.  I had a breast cancer scare 2 years ago and that was scary stuff.  I don't find myself scared and just frustrated with lack of answers.  I am a need to know person.. I need to know everything - especially with my body.  If I can understand and have direction, then I'm good.  I need to know about this extra thing I am now carrying in my body - is it safe, is it going to get bigger, is it cancer, is it going hurt more over time, what is the next step.... It's difficult to deal with those questions and a friend mentioned to me about going to a forum.. I've read several threads.. some are sad, some have humour, some have unique experiences... but all have understanding and support, and it's good to know :)

Doctors will often intermingle the terms cyst, tumor, mass but it is still worrisome.  Do you need a referral from your doctor to get into a gyn?  I wouldn't want to be waiting five more weeks to even get that rolling.
