Ovarian cyst while trying to conceive

I had a d&c for missed miscarriage (heart stopped at 8w3d) and 5 days later (Sept 26) had emergency surgery due to ovarian torsion and sepsis shock which required removal of my left ovary. Two large 5cm cysts had formed quickly due to the rush of hormones on the left ovary and caused torsion. The ovary was un-twisted but when the largest cyst was popped the ovary "withered" and was dead. I am two weeks into recovery and ultrasound showed a 3cm cyst on my right ovary and it is causing pain in my right side. I am 34 years old, had been on birth control for 15 years until getting off it in May and getting pregnant in July and it was my first pregnancy. My husband and I desperately want to have at least 1 baby. Would you recommend I get on birth control for a couple months to stop the cysts? Or would it cause more harm than good? I''m concerned the hormone changes would again cause shock on my system when I got off the BC again, but I''m also scared of more cysts since I''m down to 1 ovary. Help!

hey.
I am a med student and went to a similar story as yours. I also lost an ovary and keep getting cysts on the other one. On the one hand birth control pills do suppress the forming of new cysts but on the other hand if you want to get pregnant you need to stop taking the birth control pills. Whatever you do , I would recommend to go to a good gynaecologist with experience in fertility. There are still a lot of possibilities to get your own genetic child having one ovary left.  If you develop cysts during pregnancy or other significant big cysts that treathen your ovary , gyanecologist can remove them via laparotomy or punction.
