Overian Cyst with Abdominal Pain???

I had been having pain for a few days in my lower right abdomen.  I went to the hospital when I couldn't tolerate it anymore.  Went through the CAT scans, sonograms, etc to find out that I had 1 ruptured overian cyst and 1 still remaining.  I was given percocet and sent home to follow up with my personal doctor.

A week later, the pain was so accute that I could not even walk.  It had spread into my back and was the worse pain I had ever suffered.  As I could not get into my doctors office until the next day, back to the ER I went.  Again with the CAT scan, sonograms, etc. to see if they could find anything different.  Again, they saw the remaining cyst and said that my lymp nodes (?) were swollen.  This worried me, but not as much as when they came in and told me they were admitting me and were doing surgery the next day. I never thought I would be going through this.

After the laparoscapy, the pain was hurrendous.  3 days later and my stomach is so swollen I can't fit into my clothes.  I'm bleeding like a normal period even though it is not time and my incisions hurt.  I was cut on my belly button as well as my right abodominal area.  There are also a few tiny holes.

After the surgery I was told that they removed the cyst, however, the pain may be related to a hernia surgery I had 5 years ago.  Something to do with the patch growing into other parts of my body.  The surgeon that did that surgery came to see me in the hospital and said he finds it hard to belive that something that's been in my body for 5 years is now all of a sudden hurting me.  So, although I no longer have the cyst, I'm back to square one.

Although it doesn't seem like my abdomin hurts as much (because I'm not moving around as much as I normally do) I can't help but wonder if the was the cyst that was causing me so much pain.  Has anyone that this type of pain was with their cyst?

This site is wonderful and has helped to know that the recovery pain I'm having is normal.  THANK YOU!!

Both adhesions and cysts can be very painful.  I needed percocet before my cyst surgery.  I do have a lot of adhesions from previous surgeries and am now starting to feel them from this last.  Look on the health pages and there is info there on dealing wiht adhesions and it describes ball rolling.  This can help the situation but you should wait a few months to heal before trying it.  I am doing it now.  Good luck!

Hi There....
Cyst pain can be absolutely terrible. I had a ruptured cyst that brought me to my knees years back. About a year ago, I developed bilateral lesions on both ovaries. The pain was worse on somedays and tolerable on others. I had such extrememe back pain, I found it hard to walk upright some days. I had a hysto/bso/appy about 3 weeks ago. Although I have been dealing with surgical menopause, things are getting better. I too find it hard to believe that adhesions would all of a sudden kick in with pain, however I am not a doc and can't be sure. I hope you find some relief and I hope you are feeling better.
Take care and keep us posted
