Post-op bum pain!

Hi, I had a laparoscopic cyst removal of a simple cyst 10 days ago and ever since it feels like (sorry but hey) someone's sticking razor blades up my bum!!  It hurts when I sit down or if I get wind, or go to the toilet.  I'm still pretty swollen with some impressive bruises, and I do have IBS anyway and the cyst was on my left ovary so it's hard to tell what's what.  I'm not constipated, I've been taking laxatives at night to make sure.  I'm supposed to go back to work on Monday, and I cycle in, so I thought I'd try a quick trip to the supermarket to get milk to see how I felt.  Yeah, that's not happening.  I can't sit on the saddle - feel like there's a baseball bat up there!  Did anyone else have this?  Is it usual or shall I bother my GP?  Will it go away?  Google is just throwing up terrifying words like 'adhesion' which I'd rather not worry about without good reason.  Thanks ladies, this site has been so helpful over the last week or so!

Thanks - the pain eased somewhat over the next couple of days, though I am still having trouble going to the loo, perhaps because I haven't been moving around as much as usual. Muscles don't seem to be doing their usual job! I'm seeing my GP on Monday so I'll let you know what she says.

Hello,
Removal of the ovarian cysts is less likely to cause such pain. However few other possibilities which need to be ruled out in your case are of constipation, proctottis or inflammation of the lining of the rectum, perianal abscess caused by infection in the gland in the anal canal by the bacteria found in faeces, hemorrhoids, proctalgia fugax and levator ani syndrome.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
