Resolving Cyst but still in pain??

Last week I got ultrasound results saying I had an involuting cyst 1.8cm which I looked up and apparently that means it's resolving. Must have broken or something? Also noted free fluid in my uterus. I have been in pain for over a month, and started birth control 3 weeks ago to control my chronic cyst problem. Now I'm spotting from my birth control and it's very painful, could this be my cyst and tissues shedding? How long am I going to be in pain now that the cyst is supposedly resolving itself?! I am becoming very depressed and hopeless
