Right ovarian cyst and some symptoms, related?

Dear all,

I took an ultrasound 3 days ago and I am now told I have a right ovarian cyst measuring 41.4 X 35.1 X 47.2 mm in dimension. The report reads there is no adnexal mass or fluid in cul de sac. I am 25 years old, not pregnant, never been pregnant. Married. Sexually rarely active.

My periods got delayed and instead of 30 days I got in 50 days.  I don't know what kind of cyst this is. Is this cancerous?  No clue whatsoever.

The nurse tells me it is common and they tend to shrink over time but if my periods don't show up properly next month, I am asked to visit the office again. I don't know what to do.

I am now getting pain on my upper right abdomen. It is not far up but it falls on the same line as my navel and the pain comes only when I try to move my body - anything like bending, twisting turning etc. and I also can't exert in the loo. Even if I have pass flatulence, it hurts while I do it. Why is this happening? Is it because of my 4.5 cm ovarian cyst? Ovaries are far below from the spot where I am hurting. Please advise. I am worried as hell that this could be more serious than just a cyst.

Again, the spot is in the far right upper corner along the same line of my navel.

Hi,
I'm not sure which of your posts to answer since they seem to be almost identical.. What has your Dr. advised besides waiting to see if they resolve on their own? Cysts are very very common and 95% benign. Regarding the pain.. that may be something totally unrelated to the cysts.

If, as you said, your period doesn't appear as scheduled, you need to revisit your Dr. I wouldn't worry about it being cancer . You need to speak to your physician regarding your other pain and fears. (and try to choose one of the posts to answer, etc. It can get confusing when you have 2 threads going at the same time which are almost identical)

Good luck.

So much depends on where the cyst is located. Some folks have 2 cm cysts and experience nasty pain; I had a 10 cm cyst and had no pain. Yes, the pain can radiate to other places.

Did the doctor do any blood work for your hormone levels or thyroid? With the size of cyst you have, it's quite common to wait and see if it resolves on its own. If not, they may want to take a look via laparoscopy.

The good news is over 90% of cysts are benign. They still cause a load of discomfort though.
