Risk factors of 6cm complex cyst

Hello everyone! I recently had an ultrasound done after going to the ER with horrible left pelvic and lower back pain.I had a colostomy in Oct and the take down in Dec (took 3ft of colon and reconnected the colon)I was terrified it was related to the surgery I had. Thank goodness it was not. Turns out I have a 6cm complex cyst. The cyst was seen on a ct scan I had in August for Diverticulitis. No one said a thing about it at the time. The ER doctor found it in my records and said it was not quite as large at that time. My white blood cell count was high so they put me on IV,Antibiotics, and pain meds for 3 days in the hospital. They  thought maybe before the ultrasound the cyst was an abscess,it may have become infected during my take down. My colostomy surgeon and another surgeon suggested that it be removed, but the ob surgeon put in my chart  he didn't want to do surgery at this time. I don't think he realized it's been there for 6 months and hadn't drained. Went to my gynecologist today, they were supposed to send over my ultrasound info from the hospital but they sent 11 different patients psychological transcripts! Big oops. So they scheduled me to come in wed for an ultrasound. When I got home they called to say they had the ultrasound records and want to see me Mon.I'm wandering if my other surgery will effect how they decide to deal with it. If any one else has had abdominal surgery and a cyst surgically removed. The surgery was on my left side and so is the cyst.

Thank you for your input. That's what I thought also. Four out of  five doctors said the same thing. Still a mystery why the surgeon didn't want to do the surgery.I was already in the hospital and in pain. I have an appointment on Monday and  I'll find out more.

I am 39 years old. I have a 6.5 cm X 7.4 cm cystadenoma on my left ovary. One of my gyn doctor is saying to remove it by open surgery. I took a second opinion. The doctor says he can do it by robotics (da vinci) surgery. He says there is a chance of 95 % success with a 5 % chance of conversion to open surgery at the table. The doctor's name is in the list of doctors with da vinci robotic surgery. I can not find what is his experience.

Please suggest which is advisable.

Thanks

A 6cm complex cyst should be removed.  They are just too questionable to remain, especially once they are 5 cm or greater in size.

I had a non-complex cyst removed (well over 10 cm) and my surgery story is in my profile.
